I wonder if I should apply.

Are there openings on "Indeed"?

You could apply as long as you are not woke.
The platform tries to normalise itself...

Define "woke" in this instance.

Does it mean you accept people for their differences -- as long as they "kick butt" on their job?

There are synonymous phrases and names describing 'woke'

Left wing activists
Green activists
Climate change ideologists
Transgender ideologists
Greta Thunberg as a great example.
And many lefties of this world...

Those are not synonymous phrases of describing "woke"

That's just Right Wing bitchyness.

Nothing to do with employment qualifications.

Nope they are synonymous and often indistinguishable

Not all free speech platforms are like ATS, they are muddled up with crazy conspiracy theories with no push back or full of racist and misogynistic circle jerks, mostly aimed at jews, and black people.

Ummm... ATS is a conspiracy site. That's what we do. There is also plenty of "pushback" from those who disagree... and we allow that. As long as it is civil, we allow ALL opinions.

For crying out loud, we have had threads on here that claimed some sort of new kind of magnetism in the arms of those who had been vaccinated (that went to LOL, but it still stayed active), theories on the planet being flat, numerology threads, some I couldn't even understand enough to figure out what the OP was trying to say! You don't consider that "conspiracy theories"?

The only thing you say that is true is that we do not allow overt racism or antisemitism. Those attack entire groups of people directly without cause, including members, and we do not allow direct attacks on members.

I highly doubt you've been to those parts of the internet.

Dude, if you had any idea of the places I have been, you would be running for cover before lightning struck you!

I have seen the dark side of humanity, close up and personal. It doesn't scare me. It only bothers me because it would (or at least should) scare anyone with enough sense to be scared.

I don't have that good sense. I tread where I will, and if angels hold back in fear, so be it.

he's unbanned Kathie Griffin

I thought what she posted was sick, demented, and insurrectional... but if she did not break any laws she should not be prosecuted, and if she did not violate Twitter rules she should not have been banned.

Free speech. Even the speech I don't like.

Remember all those Hitler threads from way back? The ones where "maybe Nazis weren't actually awful people" and Springer, or maybe it was Simon, who adamantly shut that nonsense down.

Good times.

DE BOOSTING is NOT shadowbanning. you can still find it if you search for it or are subscribed to it. Shadowbanning will not even show up a result if you are not subbed to that person or it used to.

4 / 8chan, discord servers, various websites that promote unlimited free speech within the confines of the law, so no death threats, terror threats, child pornography etc, etc.

Places do exist where they attract those who wish to push certain ideas and ideologies.

Agreed.

What has to do with employment is whether those "woke" agendas will color their actions in dealing with customers. I would fire any employee, without regard to anything else, if they mistreated a customer. On the freakin' spot, in front of the customer they mistreated. Period. Get out of my business.

That's the problem with "wokeness." If someone has a political belief, no sweat. I'm not afraid of the ideas of others. When that political belief starts to intrude on my ability to have and express my beliefs, now we got a BIG problem. "Woke" people tend to want to silence others, just as you have tried to do to me in the past.

I am not going to mess in anyone's backyard. But I expect others to not mess in mine in return. If they do, there are consequences, and they are not pleasant consequences.

So. a guy buys a business, outright. He finds out that the business is bleeding money because of stupid policies. He tells the employees that the stupid policies are over, from now on employees will have to work in order to get paid.
in what is perhaps one of the worse job markets in 20+ years, many employees quit.

I'm really finding it difficult to find anything wrong, here.

The conspiracy theories pushed here at least have some weight behind them or have a good crowed to push back or critisize them. On the more unsavory areas the mob pushes out and mocks any critical analysis.

Wasn't defending the trend, just reflecting on it and how free speech can be... problematic, regardless of platform politics.

But what if they signed a non compete clause which essentially locked them out of every career in the industry until the statute expires? Imagine signing a contract that legally requires you to handcuff yourself to the golden goose for 12 hours a day or shovel burgers for minimum wage if you renege. Because "good business".

I don't know for certain, but I have to wonder about the contingency policies.

What I find really amusing -- outright amusing a la Schadenfreude -- is the copious amounts of pants-#ting everyone has been doing over what amounts to -- wait for it!

A digital gossip spot that is effectively The View, but with ALL the idiot hens you know AND don't know out there squawking at once.

To be fair here, ATS is in the Gossip Spot category, too. No skin off my nose to say that, it's what it IS. And knowing that, I also know that like various founding IRC channels, early forums like iVillage, etc, that # don't stick around forever, and the world doesn't stop spinning. (EHEM, MySpace.)

This, too, shall pass.
Someday for all Yammer Zones, too.
Some other cluck-addled arena will arise. And fall. And lather, rise, repeat.

I have yet to see a non-competition clause enforced after a firing or lay-off. They are designed to be in effect while the employee is employed or for a specified period should they choose to leave. People have a right to earn a living; that right cannot be signed away.

A clause against divulging company-specific information may be in effect, but that doesn't prevent an ex-employee from working for a competitor.
