So another adult Day Care closes. I feel so sorry for those kids making $200K who didn't have to work, or even show up for work, who had free meals and wine on tap, where the woke left could censor any views they didn't like. So now Big Bad Elon comes in and announces recess is over.

Boo Hoo.

How Elon Musk manages his company is up to him as long as he doesn't censor free speech.

Sure, but is there or was there a promise of free speech? Again, there is advertising of free speech but is there really?
But when one guy OWNS the platform he can allow what he wants and censor what he wants cuz it's his to do with as he pleases. Here we can read that Musk already has a history of censorship.

www.businessinsider.com...

Business and free speech can coexist. I am sure about this.

I think it's a fine hope that our first amendment rights would be completely protected by the corporate world but from my vantage I just don't see that as happening. So to think that Musk or any other owner is going to jeopardize their bottom line so that users can exorcise free speech is really just a pipe dream.

Absolutely!

They don't want to work under a new boss and conditions. Actually many of them just can't work for a company that is no longer woke...

By making unreasonable demands and changing the entire platform that those employees built up over the years.

Imagine going into a large auto manufacturing facility and then telling the employees they need to start working different shifts, longer shifts, and then saying they're switching the tools and machines to build busses or dump trucks and they all need to learn new skills and have a different attitude towards work.

It's the same thing. As for the free speech thing. No comment km not here to listen to people who want every platform to be a free for all mud pit. Twitter is or was what it is. Deal with it.

Well to the bolded, if they wish to remain employed i suggest they get with the program, otherwise I am sure they know where the door is. The level of entitlement from the current/new workforce is hilarious...Imagine the horror of having to build a new type of vehicle or work longer hours PAID of course for those long hours..i mean there are still labor laws. Fragile snowflakes everywhere...that was probably their first jobs too...Everyone runs into reality from time to time, it's refreshing imo.

Jealousy is fine as it's part of human nature.
Reasonable amounts are good and healthy. Too much jealousy is toxic.

My speculation is he wants to use Twitter

For whatever he wishes to use it, but what do I know, the very notion of $44,000,000,000 is way beyond my ability to really get my mind around. See, I"m stuck in the groove that the real powers that be, the real ''deep state'' the real ''elite'' are the very very rich as it's money that gives them the power. So when I see some guy slinging around a figure like that with the possibility that that he could just lose it, when he has so much other stuff going and making him richer and richer, I just have to go hmmm, do I want to trust this guy at all?

I just can't get caught up in the dream that this guy is a champion of my rights, it just makes no sense to me. Maybe it's that I don't believe in heroes.

Thanks, I got a chuckle from that. I just have to wonder though, if there is this drive to be number one, to be the top dog in any avenue of human endeavor, maybe that drive is part of his make up . Maybe he wants to be the richest ever, the most powerful ever, who knows. But to hope that someone who shows indications of being like that will for whatever reason be a hero or defender of my rights seems unrealistic to me.

Of course they feel entitled after so many years of power abuse and censoring myriads of citizens. Not to mention that if there is political will the ex owners and their workforce could be indicted and end up behind bars... Following orders is not an excuse (from their part) but I am sure they were happy to follow orders.

The certainly need a really check!

Do you really believe that mate?

I'd wager there's plenty of undisclosed wealth out there and Elon isn't even in the top ten. [/quote

Forgive me for playing the Elon is the richest guy ever game. Of course you're right.

Here from that link you offered.

and he is the next white hat saviour that is being set up to mislead the masses with their next hopium fix.

If you read any of my last few replies you can understand my agreement with this comment. Hopium fix, man that kind of sums it up.

Is this some kind of op…Did they send Musk to destroy Twitter?

It looks fishy to me...

Anything for those government projects! He's in the driver's seat now, though once you sell you are owned.

Did you miss the context of that quote? The context is of course that there will be applause for firing over refusing to follow the established business policies....YET.... condemned for following following the established business policies of the previous owner.

No he is not a champion of rights and free speech. But this is a strawman argument.
Nobody has made such claims.

Everyone wishes that the platform doesn't engage anymore in censoring and silencing anyone who doesn't follow the state narrative. Or the official narrative. I believe he knows this and knows what many users of Twitter want and everyone else who might want better quality social platforms.

Sounds about right to me.

I went through a merger. I was just an underling office worker (but I'm a worker).

They had each person list what their job was. I listed all the jobs I did.

When I got to the interview -- they looked down my list -- and said "but which job do you do right now".

I responded "All of them" -- interview over -- kept my job

This maybe an unpopular opinion, but I see most of the (now former)Twitter employees as entitled millennials who got lucky and landed a cush job that got even cushier after COVID when they could work from home. All most of did was log in from home click a few buttons, ban a few posts because of their "PC" culture, write a few emails, maybe do a Zoom meeting and call it a day. Very few actually were productive enough to justify their paycheck.

I figure the ones crying about the work environment under Elon have never had a real job that demanded them to produce something of value for their company. Years of this cush work environment got them spoiled and now they actually have to work for a paycheck, they do not know what do, so they whine on social media.

As I said, I figure most never had a real job as they got hired fresh out of college and simply do not comprehend the financial side of running a business.

Twitter is losing money and having a bunch of over payed employees who simply are not productive is obviously a major money burn. Something had to be done.

After this 'culling' I am sure Twitter will be end up hiring new talent, talent that is willing to work for their paycheck and willing to prove they add value to the company.

Sorta like this?

Sounds like you just don't like social media. We can argue until the cows come home how it's tiny 200 million user base (most bots and joirnalists) is a drop in the bucket in world affairs, at the end of the day I'm with the workers making the decision to quit. Elon isn't your savior of free speech.

Biden has been fact-checked a couple of times for his lies. It's a start.

I don't follow the ups and downs of Twitter but if it was being run so poorly as you suggest then I guess that sooner or later it was going to fail anyway. And I agree that he thought or thinks he can make it into a profit center for himself. But believing that he would be doing this because he wants to give the world a platform for free speech seems a bit Saviorish to me.

it is normal to lock people out of the work instantly when laid off or fired, nothing new there. Not really knowing who should be there until Monday due to the nature of the email it makes total sense to close the doors and lock everyone out until the dust settled.
