Musk built Tesla by hiring people who agreed to work like dogs for his "vision", he looked for definite yes men who even when laid off praised him.

He built his space program by just throwing ridiculous amounts of money at workers.

Twitter was an already existing company and he tried to clearly go with the same business plan as tesla and its not working.
Don't really care for Musk, and don't really care about Twitter and how people think it alone has destroyed free speech of whatever. But, the workers are speaking out and letting Musk know what the labor marker looks like I guess, don't like the unethical business practices of a company, go somewhere else. Isn't free market great?

Which ones are the unethical business practices in your opinion?

Was it unethical that Twitter under the ex owners censored free speech and became an echo chamber of state propaganda as well as promoting whatever narrative emanating from the establishment and dictating what can be discussed and debated an what was true and false. Bearing in mind that Twitter is a social platform and not an arbiter of truth or thought & speech police.

By making unreasonable demands and changing the entire platform that those employees built up over the years.

Imagine going into a large auto manufacturing facility and then telling the employees they need to start working different shifts, longer shifts, and then saying they're switching the tools and machines to build busses or dump trucks and they all need to learn new skills and have a different attitude towards work.

It's the same thing. As for the free speech thing. No comment km not here to listen to people who want every platform to be a free for all mud pit. Twitter is or was what it is. Deal with it.

So we have the wealthiest man in the world marching in with his big bucks.

Do you really believe that mate?

I'd wager there's plenty of undisclosed wealth out there and Elon isn't even in the top ten.

Anyway thought there was a revealing vid here exploring Elon's WEF background and Twitter antics.

Cheers.

I am no fan of Musk as he is just another technocrat.

But he is a man with the most amount of money in the world and sees himself as a maverick. I am sure he is happy and fuled by having to save the now struggling Twitter. Its a challenge to overcome for the richest man in the world who has more good years behind him then in front.

He already laid off what he thought was the dead wood (just like most tech companies these days).

Now hes trying to get rid of those who will be disloyal to his vision by making them leave if they are disgruntled.

I don't think of Musk one way or the other. To me he's just the new owner of Twitter.

I think it's great that he has high expectations of his employees. Not enough business owners have high standards and as a result you get what you pay for, crap.

Musk wants free speech on his platform and he's going to get it one way or another. I'm rooting for him. At least he's honest about his goals and is working towards them with a purpose.

As for crybaby employees, who needs them. He's better off without the whining slackers who want to work from home.

I don't have an account on twitter for the reason that they didn't want to support and promote free speech. Likewise I don't have a Facebook account. Hence I deal with it very successfully.

I don't think what Musk said was unreasonable by the way. And I don't think those who decided to leave ot are thinking of leaving the company will do so because of what Musk asked. The reasons are very different.

People work for musk at space x and tesla because there are challenging, interesting problems to solve. That's legitimately the only reason. Btw the pay is not all that great relative to your other options.

So by that standard, you will applaud those who refuse to follow his orders on how to run his business if they disagree with him?

No, we will applaud when they are fired for refusing to follow the new established business policies.

You think all those employees were working for Twitter to plot against the world of free speech? They were hired to do a job. And then a new owner came in and changed their jobs. That's unreasonable.

I find it interesting how apparently the majority of the world is supposedly being put down by places like Twitter in regards to free speech yet you only hear on the internet in specific areas about people complaining about it.

If the vast majority of people really did care, and wanted unfettered free speech platforms then why aren't places like 4chan and here the most widely used platforms in the world? Surely people would go where they can be most heard and cab speak freely right?

No I don't think that all to those people were working for that purpose. But they knew in which company they were working and what the company was engaging with. They were compliant and sometimes complicit.

What Twitter did together with other social platforms over the last 3 years was unacceptable, unethical, and could be a subject of a legal investigation if there are politicians and lawmakers who wanted to pursue them, but the stakes are very high.

Businesses run on profit. Its in your best interest , as an EMPLOYEE, for said business to PROFIT. That way you keep your JOB. Layoffs happen due to greed yes, but this is very documented that twitter is losing money with NO PROFIT... follow along and see the theme here. The twitter staff was obviously bloated, spoiled and obviously designed for propagandizing our news, communications and thoughts.. This is a purge to bring back PROFITS because it attracts the people that left , back in. I signed back up ONLY AFTER ELON took it over. This platform shouldn't be a sounding board for one side but BOTH. Dont get triggered by the narrative.

I hope he wakes up tomorrow and just says "you know what, its my property. Im going to just kill it, purge all the data and sell the physical equipment. Say bye bye to the world Twitter!"

The cia would be so pissed. How will they coordinate their global mass protests and funded militants??? Back to the old school.

Not a bad idea!

I can survive without Twitter as I don't have an account with them but generally speaking life will be as good and probably much better without all these social platforms as the harms far outweigh any benefits.

So we have the wealthiest man in the world marching in with his big bucks and taking over this business. His initial decisions on how to make it more profitable for him go awry and he realizes he will have to go draconian on the workers heads. He then forces them to sign an authoritarian statement that basically says buckle under to his authoritarian dictatorship or take a hike.. They then opt for leaving and it is OP's reaction then to place all the blame on the workers themselves.

All hail the owners and CEOs.

Corporations are not a democracy.

Sounds like you just don't like social media. We can argue until the cows come home how it's tiny 200 million user base (most bots and joirnalists) is a drop in the bucket in world affairs, at the end of the day I'm with the workers making the decision to quit. Elon isn't your savior of free speech.
