US government+Exxon/mobile = Hypocracy on Terror

In June of 2001, The International Labor Rights Fund filed a lawsuit on behalf of the village of Aceh, Indonesia. It was against ExxonMobil. It was filed before the 9/11 attacks, however, there are reports and litigations that have gone on long after the attacks on the WTC, that will prove the hypocracy.

*Note: So far the defense has been trying for dismissal rather than trying to prove the innocence of the company. Whether or not the case has been dismissed I'm not sure but will rind out tomarrow when I post more on this.

How the Company is Linked with Indonesian Military Killings, Torture and other Severe Abuse in Aceh, Indonesia

In the past decade alone, ExxonMobil has extracted some $40 billion from its operations in Aceh, Indonesia, leaving in its wake a legacy of death, destruction and environmental damage.

There have been credible reports dating back several years that Exxon Mobil Corporation, along with its predecessor companies, Mobil Oil Corporation and Mobil Oil Indonesia (collectively "Exxon Mobil"), hired military units of the Indonesian national army to provide "security" for their gas extraction and liquification project in Aceh, Indonesia. Members of these military units regularly have perpetrated ongoing and severe human rights abuses against local villagers, including murder, rape, torture, destruction of property and other acts of terror. ExxonMobil apparently has taken no action to stop this violence, and instead, reportedly has continued to finance the military and to provide company equipment and facilities that have been used by the Indonesian military to perpetrate and literally cover up (in the form of mass graves) these criminal acts.

Then On July 29, 2002, AFTER the terrorist attacks, The State Department Replied to the judge regarding the case in the following Document.

I highly suggest reading this document. If i have time later I will put some quotes from the document and see if i can find a version i can link directly to.

There is quite a bit of info on this issue but it just dies off with the start and war on iraq. The fact that the lawsuit was filed before 9/11, might be one reason that it hasn't garnered the national interests, or "Government Interests".
