Robbie Coltrane Dead: Harry Potter and Cracker Actor Dies Aged 72

Harry Potter and Cracker actor Robbie Coltrane has died aged 72.

The screen icon, known to many as the loveable half giant Hagrid in the Harry Potter film franchise, passed away on Friday.

In a statement, his agent, Belinda Wright paid tribute as she announced Robbie's death.

In it, the actor's family thanked Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Scotland where he spent his final days.

Say what you will about Oceans 12; the scene he's in where everyone is in on the joke except Matt Damon's character is one of the funniest things I've seen. I loved him in Harry Potter, and Goldeneye and The World is not Enough. Rest in peace, sir.

It's probably a region thing.

He stared in a British TV series called "Cracker" where he played a police psychologist with problems , it was riveting viewing because it was well written and well cast , Robert Carlyle made his first appearance in the series but Robbie Coltrane made the show.

He was such a natural actor... he made his roles seem real. A truly sad loss after the passing of Angela Lansbury just a few days ago. The tree is shedding too many leaves.

Robbie was born in Rutherglen which is just up the road from where i hail from.

A sad loss indeed.

The Young Ones was out when i was at Primary School Bigburgh.

Used to be a talking point in the playground, Blackadder also and Red Dwarf.
