ok guys, I know this debate has been beat to all hell and back, but hopefully this will shed some more light on the matter.

I have been very skeptical about the lunar landing, but after seeing these photo's i'm extremely convinced we went to the moon.. I would put some money on it. What's funny is I wasn't even looking for these pictures, I was looking for some high resolutions dual-monitor wallpapers..

Check them out... I can't find anything in any of the pics that says we weren't actually there...

the flag is still waving in no air

There are some great pictures there. I always used to believe that the moon landings were fake but recently i've began thinking we did indeed go to the moon. I recently came across an old book called 'Full Moon' which has loads of amazing photos from the moon. I was amazed at how sharp they were.

the flag is not waving!! look at the flag in that pic.. you can distinctly see some type of metal wire or bar holding the flag up... we had know there would be no wind, but wanted to give the U.S. flag some character...

gotta look at the video archives

Here is a video from the Nasa archives:
www.hq.nasa.gov... (11Mb Quicktime Movie)

Once the astronauts have left the flag it does not move on its own.

Thought this site was quite interesting:
www.geocities.com...
It shows someone trying to make pictures of a beach look like the moon photos

this may be a dumb question, but why wouldnt a flag be able to wave in space on the moon? Is there no wind?

I believe that we went to the moon. But remember, the United States was still playing catch up to the Russians after the launch of Sputnik back in the 50's.

There is no atmosphere. There is no oxygen. There is no wind.

First off the moonb does have a very small atmosphere that is there but it probally isn't great enough to blow a flag.

Secondly, we landed on the moon about two years before. We had advanced military opostes already planted on the moon. Then the USSR showed up and we started a top secret war. Why take photos of the lander anyway, all we did was spend billions of dollars in taxes come on.

There are a number of reasons why it appears as if the flag is waving:

The flag had a horizontal bar attached to it at the top, so that the flag would stand out from the flagpole. NASA appreciated that there would be no wind on the Moon, so any normal flag would just hang limply and unattractively down the pole. To make things look better they added a bar that stood out at 90 degrees from the pole. The flag was really hanging from this, rather than from the pole. The bar was also not quite the full width of the flag, so that it was slightly furled to give a “wave” look to it.

The Moon’s surface, once you get past the thin layer of dust, is very hard. So sticking the flagpole in was a difficult job. Footage shows the astronaut twisting the pole back and forth in order to try and get it further into the ground. This movement made the bar and the attached flag flutter.

The flagpole itself was light aluminium that is quite springy. Even once the astronaut let go the pole would continue to vibrate. This in turn would shake the bar and flap the flag. Without any air resistance to dampen the vibrations, the flag would continue to wave for longer than might be expected.

Now can someone prove to me which direction the wind was coming from and why dust kicked up by the Astronauts was not visibly effected by wind, if it was faked and was really on earth

Yeah, it's just a wrinkly flag that's being held up by a horizonal pole.

If you want lots of good, high quality photos of every Apollo mission, go to www.apolloarchive.com... they have everything pretty much, even the photos that didn't turn out good and all at a very high resolution.

precisely which should not be the case! a recent imax video, that used the same time of film that apollo "supposedly" used, filmed in orbit(no where near the van allen radiation belts much less beyond their protection)had to be scrapped due to the damage that was being done to the film yet apollo which travelled through the concentrated band of radiation known as the VARB and supposedly recieved prolonged unprotected exposure by travailing to the moon and back recieved "no damage" whatso ever-HA LOL

Sunofone,
The film was not damaged by the radiation of the VanAllen belt because it was kept in a safe radiation proof container, and they did not spend alot of time in the belt either, infact the film would have to be outside a container for a significant time before it was damaged.

Also, there is no reason the images cant be clear and crisp.

There is solar wind, but thats different, and wouldnt efect the flag.

Ive noticed in a lot of photos cited as being "a clear hoax", a reasonable explanation for the anomalies presented are that the photographs are indeed man made or local photoghraphs. It was a global PR game afterall. If some of the shots taken on the Moon didnt live up to expectations, they could have easily redone the takes in a closed set. There would be obvious faults as have been pointed out showing why the many pictures are authentic, but by confining the field of view most could be obscured.
Just somethin to think about when looking at pictures that show clear anomalies.

i think the big deal that makes me believe going to the moon is a hoax, is the video of the shuttle actually taking off from the moon. unless they left some guy up there that they didnt like and make him tape it, i dont believe it. even if we did leave someone there how could we get the video back from him? i still dont understand the flag waving but if there was some kind of ''wind'' wouldnt you see some dirt/rocks moving as well?

but the video of the shuttle taking off of the moon is amazing. there is no way we could of took footage of that.

I got the chance once to meet this man and listen to a talk about his experiences on the moon, and then asked him a few questions afterwards, his name is Harrison Schmitt.

after hearing this guy and all the interesting slides and anecdotes and the geology he talked about (he was the only scientist ever on the moon) i am convinced that we went.

thanks,

I am 99% sure that we went to the moon.

This is not a secret you can keep from the population...

First: No shuttle has landed to moon, only lunar module.

And you know, some funny things have been invented... like remote controlling and and transmitting video signal wirelessly.
But surely Mars rovers are driving around sandbox in your backyard while Huygens landed to nearby swamp.

And why thin rods tend to wave/vibrate after being moved... try fishing rod.
