America backed the crazies in Ukraine. There was no one else this time.

Ukraine gave up their nukes.

So they would be left alone.

Putin invaded regardless and because of his stupid aggression is getting more NATO.

There hasn't been any nuclear weapons in Ukraine since Ukraine handed them to Russia as part of the Budapest Memorandum.
As a result Russia guaranteed to respect Ukraine independence and its clearly defined borders and to never invade.

Ukraine has never been part of NATO and was categorically refused membership in no uncertain terms.

But whose fault is it that all those former USSR regions and ex-Warsaw Pact countries actively sought out NATO membership?
What made them seek out protection from Russia?
Surely not the alleged unfounded fears of Russian expansionism and the fear that they would renege on things like The Budapest Memorandum?

Why would Russia want to expand? occupation is a pain in the assets. This is a circular argument, the facts seem to be going in one direction anyway. France has said they wouldn't nuke Russia even if they used them in Ukraine, Turkey is doing a deal with Putin on gas supply. Italy has already done one. Greece is pro-Russia. At his rate, NATO would not be a united force to take on Russia. America and Britain might but the rest are lukewarm at best. Plus they will have to do it soon before Kyiv falls.

Nato seems pretty united.

Why would Russia want to expand?

Ask Putin, he's the driving force behind it.
Dreams of a Greater Russia and his obsessional desire for that Great epithet.

Well according to Pravda and the Kremlin Putin is prepared to deescelate as it appears he has no further ambitions beyond the 4 annexed areas of which the people in said regions identify as Russian and being in the Russian Federation.

I believe the EU is creating a problem here as no one has been able to state, let alone Ukraine... what vested interest they have in said annexed areas.

All the EU has is circular logic, Putin did such and such cry me a river.

The areas were annexed in an official governmental capacity, Russia is an independent, sovereign and Democratic nation so what's the problem?

In all the years we have been listening to Putin and Lavrov. Everything they have said has been reasonable and logical, and Putin has been applauded many times for his restraint. On the other hand, we the west have been on the shaky ground doing, questionable incursions. Now that Putin has hit his red line, he is a madman with ambitions to expand Russia's borders. The level of BS is beyond comprehension. If this gets out of hand it is because we have leaders we put in, that are calling all the poor foreign policy decisions, that we will have to eventually pay for. It is obvious we are censored to the point of stupidity, with some cabal running the show under the guise of a democracy.
As far as fighting a war goes most of the population is unfit because of an injection that has rendered on official figures almost 8% of the population unfit. Another twenty percent are Obese, the actual figures are a national disgrace. Half the US population is on some form of medication, so there will be no war. The moment that there is an economic collapse, and welfare and pensions don't get paid, most of the population will think the Russian federation is some sort of Shangrila, we have only ourselves to blame. But as long as the propaganda pours out of the goggle box la la land will be promoted. With men wearing skirts and demanding sex changes for free. Its a bloody mess and you know it.
