Kim's reflection in the window pane partially covered her view, as she observed the black VW Passat leave the premise through the barrier. Sipping on
the coffee she got from the late 2040's, the last years coffee was available, she wistfully caught herself thinking about her youth. A reminder to the
good old days. It became a ritual after she decided to stay in this timeless realm. A realm where old magic and secret science fused. Nobody knew of
her presence here, other than a few careful selected companions. Most of them from multiple timelines.
Two beeps from her wrist signaled her it was about time to move. With a swing she turned around, almost spilling the precious liquid onto the obsidian
black floor. The only material capable of isolating the space-time rift the building was shielding to the outside world. Determined but without haste,
she put on her silver coat. A special cloth one of her alternate versions created, somewhere, in the fabric of time.
The display on her right arm signaled it's time to open the time rift. With the touch of a few buttons, the opposite wall turned transparent, showing
a guard turning around in his combat gear. Kim began to hyperventilate and jump on her feet like a price boxer. A useful technique she learned over
the years for time-diving into combat situations. She has to get her heart beat and alertness up to successfully master the task she was assigned
to.
As she begins to run towards the wall to pick up speed, she pulls out her portal gun and slid feet first through, aiming the gun at the mirror in the
corner at the end of the floor behind the wall. Hopefully she would hit with the first try. The choreography she was about to deliver was simulated
countless times until she got it right. The guard didn't see it coming. Before he could react to the static crackle behind him, something swept his
feet away. The last thing he saw before loosing consciousness, was a silver shape vanishing into the corner of the floor.
"You're late!"
"I am just in time, it's good to see you old friend"
Zosira stepped out of the shadows. The crow on her right shoulder chattered and shook itself, as if to greet Kim. "It's good to see you too,
Parcival". Zosira was a master of languages and an expert in old scrolls. She ran a little library dedicated to all kinds of science and learning. A
place where thoughtful minds of all classes could socialize in peace and dedicate their time to gaining wisdom. Kim would rather enjoy her presence in
one of the cozy wing chairs in front of a chimney, sipping hot chocolate and chattering about the world. But they had a job to do.
Kim's reminiscing was interrupted by loud bangs, coming from the other side of the door.
"You got what you wanted?", Kim asked. Zosira nodded and opened her coat to show the golden scroll and reached out her arm. Kim grabbed it by the
elbow and took aim with the portal gun. A static noise, a crack and both vanished.
