Crimea voted itself out of Ukraine.

3 types of lies , lies , damn lies and statistics.

Crimea probably didn't vote itself out of Ukraine.

Official Kremlin results: 97 percent of polled voters for annexation, turnout 83 percent, and 82 percent of total Crimean population voting in favor.

President’s Human Rights Council mid-point estimate: 55 percent of polled voters for annexation, turnout 40 percent, 22.5 percent of total Crimean population voting in favor.

A member of the Human Rights Council, Svetlana Gannushkina, talked about election fraud on Kanal 24 (as replayed on Ukrainian television), declaring that the Crimean vote “discredited Russia more than could be dreamed up by a foreign agent.”

Why wasn't Ukraine admitted into NATO again?

You know, since Nulin and McCain helped "solidify" their sovereignity and independence in 2014?

History man....read it without blinders

Nay.

It's a reactive decision, not a proactive one.

Why didn't they want to join 5 years ago or 10 or 15?

four regions of Ukraine voted to join the Russian Federation

That's what the msm tells you. But let's think about this logically. First of all, Russia doesn't even have military control of those regions, let alone the ability to organize elections there. So people living outside of Russian-occupied areas had no chance to vote.

But even then, aren't you aware that millions of Ukrainians have fled their homes. And hundreds of thousands have taken up arms. Don't you think they have the right to vote? Or what are they supposed to do, send their mail-in ballots to the enemy, lol?

The MSM tells it was a sham referendum.

Which it obviously was.

The Western MSM, yeah. They say it was a sham, but I say it was not only a sham, but also impossible for Russia pull off with the resources they have. Even if they wanted to hold a fair referendum they couldn't.

They did. Ukraine voted to integrate the NATO Membership Action Plan in 2008. They even amended their Constitution in 2019 to be in line with the standards set by NATO.

So when, and it's likely, if not probable, that suddenly the worlds cities begin to sprout glowing mushrooms, all too many of you seem to think that that price is OK for standing up to a bully...?

We have people in power who's grip on sanity may not be all that we'd like it to be.

Millions dead in a flash. With billions possibly wishing they'd gone in that flash in the aftermath.

No thanks.

Ukraine will solve its problems one way, or another. It's not our fight. We've spent the better part of a century poking our noses where they didn't belong, or staying far too long, when the time for sticking our noses in ended.

Protect ourselves? Yes. Protect others? Not if they're unwilling to do it themselves--and certainly not at the cost of millions of innocents who've no skin in this stupid game of brinksmanship. I grew up with the Cold War...and it's return is most unwelcome.

I am not going to cheer for its probably escalation.
