Zelensky requests fast-track Nato membership

In Ukraine, President Zelensky has announced that he is requesting fast-track Nato membership after Vladimir Putin attempted to annex four Ukrainian regions.

In a Telegram post, he said:

Quote Message: We have already proven our compatibility with Alliance standards. We are taking a decisive step by signing Ukraine's application for accelerated accession to Nato"

We have already proven our compatibility with Alliance standards. We are taking a decisive step by signing Ukraine's application for accelerated accession to Nato"

A video of Zelensky's statement was also posted by the Ukrainian presidency on social media.

Before Russia sent its armed forces into Ukraine in February, Moscow was demanding legally binding guarantees that Ukraine would never be admitted to Nato, a US-led military alliance.

It's been claimed that Russia used this as a pretext, among others, to launch its so-called special military operation.

I say yay and laskavo prosymo
If it's fine for Russia to declare binding what is obviously a product of force. It should be fine for Ukraine and the West to make it official too. Nobody who thinks that's offensive.

I am being on purpose provocative. How the # did we get here?

I would like to add: Putin says he fights NATO we should give ihm the opportunity.

Why wasn't Ukraine admitted into NATO again?

You know, since Nulin and McCain helped "solidify" their sovereignity and independence in 2014?

Never gonna happen. There's a reason why NATO won't even consider countries that are experiencing instability, let alone a full blown war.

The best they'll probably get is an agreement that if Russia deploys WMDs then NATO will join the fray.

I think since following the Russian narrative it's already a proxy for NATO...
Give the old men what they want. Let's make it official.
It's not like it's not true, is it?

I know you're usually right.

I just can't live with the scenario of letting the bully win. Cuz, it's who's next.

Yes -- this one is definitely feelz.

Easy. Just use the Balfour Declaration as a rough draft.

Skip all the fanfare.

Well if a guy wants to get hit the least you can do is get a step closer.
Otherwise Putin will use it to show the hypocrisy and lack of honesty.
We are already involved, there's just no denying that.

Why admit Ukraine when it will mean instant war?

Bad idea. Europe has enough troubles already.

Nay.

I'll bet they do.

Look at the Money and military equipment they are getting. Lot's of that equipment is still being transported by Cavok Air An-12's.

Flights from Fort Huachuca,Dyess Air Base to Pittsburgh and on to Goose Bay Canada before going back to Ukrain.

Ramp rats were talking.

Money money money.

NATO won’t even consider it. It’s never been a possibility since Crimea. No countries with border disputes can go past the application process. Even if there was a waiver to allow it to vote, plenty of NATO countries would say no so they don’t get dragged into war.

This is just plublicity

No, no, and NO !

More involvement will only lead to nuclear war and 100s of millions of DEAD.
Those pushing this are BLIND LUNATICS.

Putin is already stopped.
His military can barely handle Ukraine as it is.

Best strategy is the one we followed during the Cold War, where we did not invade the East Bloc.
Just keep a very strong military presence on the border to Ukraine, like we did on the border of East Germany

That strategy WAS PROVEN TO WORK FOR DECADES WITHOUT NUCLEAR WAR.

That will not happen. The people have spoken, and those areas are now part of Mother Russia. Ukraine started this whole thing in 2014. They sowed to the wind. Now they are reaping the whirlwind, and deserve to.
