it is pretty common knowledge that we have altered the Ukrainian MiGs with the AMRAM launching hardware and radar integration.

i wonder if they upgraded the radar in the aircraft as well so they can be passive hunters..

i personally also think we are allowing them to view real time sat or HALE video streams and as a lasing platform

also if you look at the helmet the guy is wearing it looks like it has more on it than a go pro and the IR light head tracking system.

makes me wonder if they got a few AIM-9X'ss

The HARM can be integrated significantly easier. They only need power, and can be fired using the missile as the seeker. Other weapons would require more integration and modification to the aircraft. Russia and Ukraine have had HMCS and off boresight missiles for awhile, so it’s almost certainly for one of their own missiles.

yea an early version got stuck in a MiG over Nam i think and it didnt detonate so i assume they very carefully removed it and dismantled and copied

the thing is even if you have something in front of you and know what the parts are and what they do you still might not be able to make them due to manufacturing methods above what is available to Russa or NOK etc.

I still saw overseas where they would bomb a crashed chopper that was already loaded with C4 and blown up, they go to pretty extream lengths to not allow stuff to get into the wrong hands, looks what happened to the poor beasts of Kandahar(RQ-170)

now a days even more so, with mini ASEA radars and interesting seeker heads so not just radar and ir countermeasures can trick them, like UV, deep IR and multispectral along with millimeter wave imaging all tied into an image data base to make sure if the seeker can see it, it can stay locked
