Lots of waste of space in that picture, take a look what happens if I raise the brightness and contrast.
Pretty tight cut, I wonder what they are hiding.

Yeah, but "science" told us it is not a planet, so Pluto can go back to being Mickey's dog.

Cheers

It's been known since the 1980s , just these days we get cool pictures of it.

Thank you for that. You're too kind.

Using occultation involves actual sight. I wonder why no pictures before "New Horizons"?

There are pictures before New Horizons but Pluto is far away , small and not well lit.

Yes, it's been known for a while. What's going to blow you noggin even more is that fact that Pluto, as a result of having an atmosphere, is warming up, yes, that's right, Climate Change and it's not the only one.

MIT news from 2002

You may well find it interesting the Pluto and other planets with atmospheres are warming, but no one knows why. Earth is apparently warming because of humans, and that's it.

There was a thread on ATS about our solar system moving through a denser, hotter portion of space. Possibly that is the reason?

Thank you again. The Hubble has produced amazing pictures of the depths of space. It's a shame we had to send another one to find the detail of something so close in comparison. I wonder if the picture on the left is a result of radio frequency? Especially given the pixelation when looked at close up. Regardless, the picture on the right is phenomenal. How long before a rover turns up there, I wonder. Maybe on the way, they could investigate that "craft" orbiting Jupiter's moon, Europa since NASA's Juno craft is unable, apparently.

It's a CGI reconstruction/simulation from Hubble images, where Pluto is just a few pixels across.
