Ugh.

www.voanews.com...

A suicide bomber driving a tractor near Iraq's Abu Ghraib prison has blown himself up in the second attack on the facility in the past two days.

Police say at least four civilians were hurt in Monday's blast.

Ok, i think it's safe to say the insurgents are no longer a lose and disorganized group. This cannot be a good sign of things to come...

lol

How is driving a tractor and only hurting innocent people a sign of them becoming more organized??

I have to ask that question also.

Well, as the subject line said, this is the 2nd of such attacks within the span of 2 days. Both on the same target.

You do the math.

The thing that irks me about this, and Saturday's attack, is that there is very very little TV coverage about it. Everything is pope pope pope.

I don't need to be disrespectful, but how many more details do we need about this man? The coverage actually began a week before, with his death watch, and has been THE STORY, 24X7 on channels such as Fox News.

I couldn't agree with you more

Don't get me wrong, i dont want to deny anyone their mouring or try to lessen it, but did we REALLY need "death watch" coverage?!?

MOST ESPECALLY because of the number of troops who have been hurt and killed!

While it is all over the news, the first thing you should do is stop relying on Fox news for what's going on in the world.

Seriously, though, this does speak volumes. This is the 2nd attack on the same target in a short time span. I dunno about you, but I think these guys have nuts. Even if the 2nd one was botched, which I don't totally believe. Then again, I guess you gotta have nuts to use a suicide bomb.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, an enemy willing to kill themselves to get you is not the best enemy to have. They've already established that they're willing to die, so how can the threat of you killing them scare them?

There was also a problem at Camp Bucca on Friday.

Boston Herald
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Prisoners at Iraq's largest detention facility protested the transfer of several detainees deemed ``unruly'' by authorities, throwing rocks and setting tents on fire in a disturbance that injured four guards and 12 detainees, the military said Monday.

Friday's protest at Camp Bucca - which holds about 6,000 prisoners, nearly two-thirds of all those in Iraq - caused only minor injuries before being brought under control, authorities said. It was the third major incident at an Iraqi prison in three days.

I have to wonder about the motivations behind attackin the prision again. It would seem to me that either A) the insurgents are pissed about what went on (and probably still is going on) there or B) someone held there is of value and they want to cause enough chaos to facilitate and escape/rescue.

The past couple of days have made me appreciate ATS and news websites even more than I did before.

TV news has been pretty much useless for the past week with all of the attention being put on Shaivo, the Pope and Michael Jackson.

So at the other camp they threw rocks and burned down tents?
These would be the tents they sleep in I am assuming... strikes me as cutting off your nose to spite your face. Then again I wouldn't blow myself up to make a point, especially while riding a tractor.

I thnk this clearly shows the insurgency ' freedom fighters ' are increasing in numbers and tactics.
There is something precious at Abu Grahib, and they want it out.

There was an interesting news piece on 60mintues here in Oz the other night, a reported was embedded with the US Marines in Iraq, following them on missions.

Here he was in a humvee driving down a main road, when the gunner up top started swearing and screaming at a car
'' move outta the way mother F***er ''
He then fired his pistol and the car moved to the side.

Then, it showed the US Marines barge down a door ransack a house, pull all the occupants out side,
after searching the premesis the commander of the unit went on to apologise to the people, '' with an interpretuer '' left $20.00 on the floor and simply turned around and walked off..

When the US Sgt was asked '' how is this winning hearts and minds ''
he was speechless.. couldnt answer the quetsions

It then went on to show a map of Iraq..
since the begining of the war, US marines were able to drive from city to city as they please with not to much hassle.
The insurgency has stepped up SOO much,
instead of flying from the port city Umqasa or what not like the used to ,
they have to FLY to Jordan, then fly to baghdad.

SOUNDS to me like the insurgency is slowly winning its country back.

I agree, but what sort of %???

IMHO, the insurgency in Iraq is simply most males, between 18-30 who feel having a foreign army in your country, kidnapping your leader, occupying your buildings, and bombing your streets deserves to be fought.

And i feel if any of us were in there position we'd do the same.

If by foreign fighters you mean alqaeda

you crack me up!

BECAUSE if you in that situation were slowly watching your friends, your leaders, your FAMILY constantly being blown to bits of dragged off never to be seeen again, ud be asking for any able man to help you.

It has been reported from a doctor in Baghdad, that it is 100 times worse with the US forces there, than it EVER Was under saddam with sanctions.

The Americans created a Pandora's Box, and its going to be exactly like the Russians in Afghanistan.

IT will bleed the country dry, until they are so restricted in there economy, and so humiliatied they that were beaten by gureilla's, they have to reatreat leaving it to whom ever wants it.

Your think Iran's a threat now, wait till they have Iraq and ultimately the largest stake in the Middleeast
