I thought this thread was about Gorbachev?
That post was solely about Yeltsin.
When I have ever professed any sort of liking or anything positive about Yeltsin?

He's 100% complicit with the Oligarchs who have raped and plundered Russia, he's literally in knacker deep with them!

What happened under Yeltsin is a direct consequence of Gorbachev's activities to destroy the country.

He tamed the oligarchs. Some of them escaped like Vladimir Gusinsky. Some went to prison like Mikhail Khodorkovsky.

I do not understand why a person during whose rule Russia has moved away from the edge of the abyss and strengthened should be the target of my anger.

Ha ha.....
Putin enabled and colluded with the Oligarchs....and continues to do so.
But hey, you just continue making excuses for him.....no skin off my nose. Doesn't affect me in any way shape or form.

Sure, Putin dragged you back from the abyss....right back to the edge of another huge massive bloody abyss.
The writing is on the wall, its only a matter of time.

I believe that no abyss threatens Russia in the near future.

But I can't say the same for Europe.

It does not have its Putin and therefore it is doomed.
