Two Strikes,,,, You're Out LST2022

The lightning struck both near and far
the closest hit a moving car
which then careened and came at me
as I walked by in time to see
a place of refuge, lucky find
a near by tree to duck behind.

The car swerved by, I gasped relief
my God had saved me, my belief.
I rested but a moment when
I heard a noise, a crack and then
A second strike had hit the tree
which fell and took the life from me.

Thank you pronto. The meter is at first hard to grasp because I failed to spell ''closest'' correctly. It's a two syllable word and ''closed'' is only a one syllable word which sets the rhythm out of kilter. I've got a request into the mods to fix it but thus far, they have not.
