10 years ago today we first experienced the 7 minutes of terror as we waited to hear if Curiosity rover's bold sky crane touchdown system had worked
then breathed a huge sigh of relief when confirmation came that Curiosity had indeed landed safely in Gale crater.
10 years later Curiosity has taken more than 700,000 raw images , traveled over 14 miles , climbed 2,000 ft up a mountain and witnessed over 2,800
Martian sunsets.
Dusty and a little battered with holes in the soles of its shoes this little rover is 10 today.
Happy 10th anniversary to NASA and the Curiosity team , outstanding work.
