I was stung by a bee one time while playing basketball but could never understand why. Then I watched some donkeys that put their lives at risk doing stunts. When ever I watched them they remind me of my older childhood friends and the stuff that I'm not supposed to do. One of them was yelling at the other to stop running because the body heat attracts them.

Later in my life I watched something that changed my actions whenever I saw a bee because if they die then I or us would die too. One night I came home, someone on TV was asking "what would happen if all the bees were gone" my dad replied "they would die, what a dumb question". I left before they gave the news so I don't know if his view changed.

Some bees used to come by, something that used to happen very rarely and in fewer numbers at the back of my house. I would always give them honey or just let them walk around my hand. One day a girl was looking at me as if I was insane because I was so happy giving them honey after seeing lots of them coming to my house.

Without any bees, Earth dies. I don't think most people realize this. And the bees are dying off. There are so many factors, including more people building so they take away the bees habitats, climate change, electronic emissions, etc. Even though I am allergic to bee stings, I try not to ever kill any bees. Sometimes, bumblebees come and rest on the railings of my patio. They are so mellow I can pet them sometimes. Bees need water. It's nice to put out a little bit of water for them so they can get a drink and have the energy to pollinate more things. I always try to be respectful of bees. If there is one buzzing around me, unless it settles down, I just go somewhere else to avoid antagonizing it.

I'm allergic to bee's, mildly as an adult, they used to get me rattled. Now, no fear, I love them, watch them in the wildflowers in my yard. I have actually seen a good number, maybe 4 different kinds of bees so far. I'm surprised as it has been unseasonably wet and cool. I used to let half the yard go wild, I guess a previous renter had done so. Unfortunately my landlord wanted it a bit less wild..I still leave a patch of defiance there!!

And if the bee's go, we will be seriously compromised.

I’ve seen quite a large increase in the amount of bumblebees in our area and less honey bees.

Is honey bee poo?

I plant bee (pollinator) attracting plants on my terrace.

So far, it's working.

3 years ago, not a one.

Two years ago, I didn't see any.

I kept at it.

Last year, maybe 50-55 sightings (I know cuz my wife freaks out). And some butterflies and a sh*t ton more birds (which I feed every morning).

This spring so far, a boatload! No butterflies yet but my birds are no longer afraid of my dogs...and now we have carpenter bees.

Maybe they'll bring woodpeckers. heh. heh. I said, "pecker."

We have a butterfly garden and the bees love it too! We always have lots of them buzzing around the flowers.

It's a little bit difficult for us being in the middle of a big metropolitan area and we're on the 6th floor of a 19 floor building in a multi-high rise complex. But our terrace is huge (1000 sq ft) so we have tons of space for planter boxes and stuff to attract what we are able to. It's fun to have a little slice of nature and outdoor living in the middle of the city (at least while the weather permits here in the northeast US). Gotta do what we can for the bees, as well.
