This topic begs so many philosophical questions to brush it of like that, does not do it any justice.

We might not be there yet, but then again, if we were, that tech would be kept very well hidden. If fully developed it would give you a godlike advantage over anyone lacking it.

If you have the ability to compute everything down to the quantum level, your feelings can be expressed with a code.

Chaos might be because our brain isn't made to compute so much data. but what if you can compute, and render it into a visible output?
Your whole experience of being you is completely created in your brain.
They are just the input of a few sensors, aka senses.

The big enigma is how these inputs create something more, the whole is more than it's part?

Now imagine the amount of data an AI could compute, at some point the rendered visible output of it's reality would make our reality look simplistic.

It would demystify many things. Maybe too many? It's not very pleasant if something comes shaking up the foundation of my own believes.

But i digress as this is more the topic of singularity. Nevertheless, combine the two concepts and things will get interesting, or frightening, for each to decide...

Yes. When an employee overstates the capabilities of a product that employee is usually terminated .

I'm aware of why he lost his job, my point was his claims were obviously wrong to even a layperson. Maybe learn what nuance is.

Don't be surprised if this entire thing turns out to be bullsnip . I heard the employee was put on leave for mental health . Normally called vacation where I am .
AI is a marketing ploy . It came about through the use of another marketing ploy - "Da Cloud"

That 'ploy' just eliminated hard drives for personal computers.

There doesn’t seem to be an agreed census of what sentience is from reading the comments here. I’d have to question if the ATS community would be considered sentient as well. A lot of learned, preprogrammed posts to be had here.

This is also already a thread.

Apologies in advance for replying to your comment, I know that can be triggering for you. Since you’re an admitted layperson with a lack of expertise on the subject, seems like you’re opinion on the subject is without merit. Funny how THIS expert is dismissible to you.

Could you prove that you yourself are in fact sentient? I realize that may be a tall order. Nuance, isn’t an aspect of sentience btw.

Who said I was a layperson? Did you just assume?

What rights would you grant it? In what way is its rights being restricted now that can be relieved? Does it have a right to walk? Does a quadriplegic human have that same right yet it is not granted?
