The government of Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega has authorized Russian troops, planes and ships to deploy to Nicaragua for purposes of training, law enforcement or emergency response.
In a decree published this week, and confirmed by Russia on Thursday, Ortega will allow Russian troops to carry out law enforcement duties, "humanitarian aid, rescue and search missions in emergencies or natural disasters."
The Nicaraguan government also authorized the presence of small contingents of Russian troops for "exchange of experiences and training."
Nicaraguans are the 12th-largest population of Hispanic origin living in the United States, accounting for less than 1% of the U.S. Hispanic population in 2017. Since 2000, the Nicaraguan-origin population has increased 128%, growing from 203,000 to 464,000 over the period. At the same time, the Nicaraguan foreign-born population living in the U.S. grew by 63%, up from 156,000 in 2000 to 255,000 in 2017. By comparison, Mexicans, the nation’s largest Hispanic origin group, constituted 36.6 million, or 62%, of the Hispanic population in 2017.

This is something to take note of, but I don't think for the reason that CBS would have you believe. I don't think this is Russia positioning troops for some kind of invasion of US space, but it is an "invasion" of the US' traditional role in the world.
We used to have the prosperity to help other countries with their problems and "bring democracy" to places around the world. This was largely so alphabet agencies could take control of the resources of these countries but there were some upsides. The current US regime (on both sides of the aisle) is so heck-bent on crippling itself and the West that we no longer do this sort of thing. We've seen China doing this all over in recent years with massive economic investment, essentially buying the loyalty of non-Western powers.
It's hard to say whether this is a good or a bad thing, really depends on who you ask. I think what it is most is evidence that the world's power centers are shifting (have shifted?). Between our botched "pull-out" (full surrender) in the middle east and China and Russia becoming truly international powers I think the old "Team USA - World Police" paradigm is coming to a close. I don't even think our support of Ukraine is anything more than elite money laundering and an excuse to cripple Western energy and food supplies to reduce population and "environmental footprint".
