What the Democrats are hiding is hilarious. The #ing FBI already cleared Trump and his people, stating they were not involved in the actions that took place that day.

Steve Bannon was charged with contempt of Congress for refusing to testify. While the Dems were happy, it just exploded in Democrats faces. Bannon filed a motion to depose Pelosi and the other top Democratic leaders and their involvement in the Jan 6th ordeal. The judge ruled in favor of Bannon and the Dems must give deposition under oath.

Whats funny about that is Pelosi is claiming they dont have to comply because of the speech and debate clause of the Constitution. While at the same times Pelosi and her minions are demanding top republican members of the House go in front of the Jan 6th committee.

So apparently only Democratic representatives are covered by the Speech and Debate Clause (btw they arent).

The position Democrats find themselves in is telling. They (dems) are going to get destroyed in the midterms but whats concerning is the main focus for Dems is not the election. Its using everything Dems have left to desperately stop Trump for ever regaining the Presidency. I think Trump was closer to the drain plug and that scared the hell out of Dems (so much so they stole the 2020 election).

This prime time bs the Dems are pushing is only damaging themselves. Especially when they are caught editing videos to take out the Capital Police letting the people inside the building. The problem with the charges is it can be argued its entrapment. The moment the police removed the barriers and opened the door for the people to get inside the building should negate any charges filed.

The deposition is not on the January 6th ordeal, it's in an effort for Bannon to fight his contempt charge. Hardly an explosion.

Not quite sure why thats funny? No Republican sitting members have been charged in contempt that i know of. If so would likely get thrown out on the same grounds.

and forgot to tell everyone that the FBI cleared Trump and his people of having anything to do with what the Dems are accusing him of. Not to mention the fact Pelosi is hiding surveillance footage and went to far as to edit the ones they did show, taking out the parts where the Capital Police was showing people where to enter the building.

Its funny for the reasons I gave. While Republican members of Congress have not been charged (yet) Pelosi is claiming they have to appear in front of the committee (which the committee is illegal and violates several house rules). For Pelosi to say Republican members have to appear at the same time she is trying to say Dems dont have to give under oath statements to Bannon's lawyers because they are exempt (the moronic S&D clause). Please explain the difference with requiring Dems to give depositions (Dems are not charged either) and them claiming they dont have to, using the Constitution, while at the same time claiming Republicans must go before the illegal committee..

The S&D clause covers both parties do they not?

I think people need to take a step back and look at this from a more objective standpoint. It's supposed to be some criminal investigation, right? I mean, I have heard of several people who are incarcerated for not "complying" with this circus. That's criminal.

Under what authority does the US legislature act as a US executive agency? What authority gives Congress the power to incarcerate people?

Under what authority does the US legislature act as a US judicial agency? What authority gives Congress the power to conduct a criminal trial?

If this is a criminal trial, where is the defense? Does the US Constitution not give every person charged with a crime the right to confront their accusers? When exactly did we suspend that?

If this is a criminal trial, considering that the "jurors" in this case are the exact same people who impeached a sitting President twice for things that are not crimes and are specifically permitted by the US President? Then impeached him again after he left office! When did the US government start allowing biased jurors?

What this is, what this has always been, is political theater. It is not a trial... for there to be a trial, there must be a prosecutor and defense, both able to call witnesses and state their case equally. I saw in the single hour I watched the other night accusations upon accusations against Donald Trump... and not once a statement by Donald Trump or by advocates for Donald Trump.

In short, this is nothing but a video production starring anyone who doesn't like Trump. It means squat... or people had better hope it means squat. If it actually progresses, then a police officer can stop you, charge you with anything he wants, try you at the station without showing any evidence, and toss you in jail for as long as he wants. We have a justice system to prevent exactly the kind of kangaroo courtroom antics that this thread is discussing. These "Congressmen" are not officials of the us government; every single one has openly defied their Oath of Office by presenting this choreographed abomination. Every single one has openly defied both the letter and spirit of the US Constitution multiple times.

Congress' job is not to prosecute nor sentence anyone. Congress makes law.
