It's so early. The line is too long. My patience too short.

She's dressed in snakeskin pants, and spitting venom at the stoic barista.

Sighs and eyerolls emit from the audience to her one woman show.
She spins on a heel, to exit stage right.

I wave my fingers. Ripples in the air tip her balance.
A snake belongs on their belly. So it must be.

The End

"snakeskin pants" makes for a vivid visual. I'm not much for the tights with leopard spots, either, heheh

I've seen coffee plays a regular role in short story submissions on ATS. I suspect we all consume more than our share of caffeine

Cheers

I believe I was sipping my morning java as I wrote this.😂
Totally forgot I submitted another story a few contests back with a coffee theme as well.😂
Odd thing is I never go to coffee shops, yet apparently subconsciously must want to spend 6 bucks on a drink I can't pronounce?😂
Not one much for snakeskin either....So perhaps why my character felt compelled into action.
Thanks for reading.

I S&F your story the day you posted it, AccessDenied, but i was lost for words to comment.

Having read it many times over, It seems that the shorter the story, the more space is left for the reader to fill in the blanks and hop on for the longer ride. However, this only applies when the narrative is as compelling as yours, launching you into the thick of the scene.

Well, now you have me at a loss for words, lol.

Oh! So dark but in a good, satisfying way.

Did you draw that? It's not really important because it fit's perfect to your text anyways. I just thought I ask because I draw too and it's very similar to my style. Can't stop looking at it.

It's magnificent like your story.

Thanks for reading. I cannot take credit for the artwork. I find images through various sources that inspire me to write.
