Shut up and play a game? What is it with corporations and professional sports now that they have to openly dive into political issues? These activities were supposed to be an escape from all the insanity so fans could enjoy a game without teams and corporations attempting to give you THEIR morality lesson of political point of view.

Appears the new trend is gun control.

After reading the article, it is implied that young,black, male are at the greatest risk of gun violence. Only a little under 15% of the population is black, 48% of all blacks are male, so black male make up about 7% of the US population.

It looks to me like young, black, males need to quite killing each other.

Personally I don’t think any reasonable kind of gun control is going to matter. Use The great city of Chicago as an example. They have some of the tuffet gun control laws in the nation.


Play ball.

How about they get rid of the PMC’s guarding Yankee Stadium? Put your money where your mouth is and they just lost a lifetime fan because they won’t.

They haven't lost enough fans and revenue yet. If and when they do, they'll get off their soapbox quickly.

Maybe if there were more guns in sports ball, their lives wouldn't be so boring.

I used to watch NFL, MLB and NBA religiously. After a long day at work I loved having a few cold beers watching a game or 2. Over the past few years I’ve totally veered away from these overpaid babies. I didn’t watch them play cause of their political views.

I’ve been blessed in my lifetime to see some of the greatest athletes from boxing , football , baseball and basketball break records and do the impossible. No reason to watch these mediocre athletes to watch or listen to their bs.

Now I just go fly fishing instead of watching the trash and bull$hit on tv.

Dollars, plain and simple, maybe even a form of advertising. corporations that no matter what kind of business their in, think that if they virtue signal for the issues that come to the forefront no matter what it is, will draw in the dollars that the supporters of these issues spend.

i got no problem with them speaking against something if it not designed to draw in even more money during a time right after a tragedy , if they would have been doing this before a mass shooting had occurred, instead of right after one, that would have been different.

The First Amendment provides that Congress make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting its free exercise. It protects freedom of speech, the press, assembly, and the right to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

So you can get upset about it but it's freedom of speech, right? So you can do nothing about it. Gun laws are a political and a social topic, so it's everybody's business. Why it's mostly those who constantly refer to the Second Amendment get angry about such things?

Cancel culture is part of it. If you don't come out in favor of every thing that the Socialist Progressives do, you are considered the enemy.

Another thing is the Sherman Anti-Trust Act. Major League Sports have an exemption granted by Congress.

They should stick to sports and not be commenting on guns. I have a license to carry but seldom do right now because most of the places I go are pretty safe. However, if allowed I would carry into theme parks and stadiums to deal with DAs who think violence is okay. My best and end of rant
