What is the current issue with this board?

I've seen a couple of comments about the current mods/admin not being able to alter anything about this site, and since I have been active here again (for the last few months, after a couple of years away) it seems like the site is running off something akin to an early, budget 3G data connection. It times out almost as often as not.

Were you here for the nightly, increasing in duration, error that went on for a while? I believe it was 5:30 EST, but can't remember.

Since they ironed that out I haven't had issues aside from the site going down completely, but my own connection is not ideal so I may not be fast enough to notice the site having issues.

A couple issues were fixed since ownership changed, but I don't know if there's any plan for ongoing upgrades. My impression is that this site is on borrowed time no matter how much is put into it unless the current trajectory of society changes. Even proactively preparing for the coming crackdowns offers limited protection. They have all the bases covered to shut it down.

Lower traffic equals smoother operation. That is what I have experienced over the last 18 months

For me it's still my ISP DNS that makes the site unresponsive.

As soon as I switch to any other DNS server, everything runs smooth and lightning fast.

Nothing much is being maintained, upgraded or fixed.

Pay the light bill and rely on slave mod labor.

I haven't had any issues, accept when I star a post, and revisit that post there is a blank star, as if I hadn't given it one.

Upon my own investigation I found my stars were indeed counted. It is some kind of glitch showing me a blank star, even though I did give a post a star.

I would never characterize 'volunteer participation due to love of the site' as "slave labor". Your mileage may vary. Your mileage probably does vary. Sentient people often ask questions rather than making unsupported statements. I suggest this as a useful vector for valid data compilation.
