After watching this, my question is how the school does not get prosecuted for providing blatant pornography to minors? What she reads from their LGBT book is right out of a XXX rated erotic story you would find in publications like Hustler or Swank except it is even worse as it is about a child. More like teenager porn.

I find it funny that the schoolboard stops her from reading it because they find it offensive... they are the ones allowing and promoting it!

That won't work,

The meeting is over 4 hours long, the link I put in skips right to it.

I know. And it appears that was available to 6th graders.

The entire US school system has been weaponized to brainwash our children-our country's future- into being socialists. The only way I can see to change the future, before it's too late, is for parents to pull their children out of the government run schools.

Home schooling or alternative schools are the last bastion of hope. If the parents of school age children who don't agree with the path America is on now will take this step- no matter how 'inconvenient' it is- they would be giving the future back to the coming generation, and taking it away from the 1%.

Sure seems like School Boards and many Teachers are adults with child minds. I wonder if the three on the right of the screen want you do it with the students.

Just advise people of the timestamp and they can skip straight to it, but for those who want to claim the video clip is edited or taken out of context in some way, the complete video allows them to view to their heart's content to see that it is not.

I guess, and this is a loose guess, that the argument is that this book is the perspective of LGBT, so that is why it has value. Our children need to be exposed to differing perspectives on life. However, if this is window into an LGBT perspective on life, then how much value does that have? Is it really appropriate for children and why should they understand it?

Are there books out there offering a perspective of LGBT life without the graphic sex, and if that's not possible, is it possible that this lifestyle is what it is accused of being by some?

I was looking at the three School Board members to the right. I looked into Amira Assad-Lucas, Director, District 4.

Board of Education

Ah, a Progressive Voter.

Progressive Voter Guide

Oh, the mayor is also in on it!

Mayor Guleen Castriotta

Meet Guyleen Castriotta img Guyleen has been a fierce advocate for health and safety and our underserved communities. By staying true to her beliefs and her constituents, she’s built an impressive track record of progressive advocacy, successful initiatives, and responsible governance. A trailblazer in many ways, Guyleen was the first openly lesbian candidate elected to the Broomfield City Council and was unanimously appointed to Mayor Pro Tem in 2019. Her public service record is a strong testament to dedicated, thoughtful, and persistent organizing on critical issues.

do gradeschool children also need to be taught the perspective of serial killers and rapists, as if those mindsets were normal?

I bet the perspective of tribal cannibalism would make a neat optional college course- but it has no place in 6th grade, before children can fully appreciate the repercussions of their choices

My, now 18 year old, daughter spent her school career in Colorado schools and it was the worst experience EVER.
I had to reeducate her EVERY DAY. She learned a lot about the left and its vile ideology and in some ways she is far off better than most of her peers because she now knows what they believe, how they behave and how to debate them, fight them and who to stay away from....but I spent 12 years fighting against leftist ideology from progressive staff/teachers/school boards and IM EXHAUSTED from it.

Luckily she graduated early and we left that, albeit beautiful, #hole, leftist state.

so let me get this straight ms "school board member"

you ALLOW THESE BOOKS TO STUDENTS OF ALMOST ALL AGES.
those books ARE USED IN CLASSROOMS (dont tell me they are not , that insults our intelligence).
so students are READING THIS OUT LOUD AND/OR TEACHERS DOING SO IN LESSONS.

but its too "inappropriate" for a school board meeting?

YOU HYPOCRITCAL WITCH.

if you cant say it in an open school board meeting, YOU CANT USE IT IN SCHOOL.

its that damn simple

These books are available through the school's library database or something something the lady reading it said. Doesn't sound like classroom curriculum. Sounds like two books out of a database of probably 10,000 + books.

Republicans have been going after these two books...

If she isn't allowed to read them to the school board of *adults* because they are too graphic, do they need to be in school libraries? If you, as a parent, decide that your child needs access to them, then you can get them from plenty of sources. But do they need to be in school libraries?

Furthermore, if, as I suspect, the argument is that kids need to have literature representative of the LGBT+ experience in life, surely there are plenty of novels written by LGBT+ authors that do not feature sex scenes so explicit that grown @ss adults won't allow them to be read? And why not replace these books with those examples for kids to read? Why does it need to be these two, especially in a world where To Kill a Mockingbird and Huck Finn are being banned for their language and no other reason.

I'm starting to suspect that if these books didn't have explicit content then they would be unheard of and would have completely flopped in sales.

Straight or queer, books that depend on sexual content to make sales are trash and have no place in schools for minors.

When do we put up the 50 Shades trilogy as exemplar lit for the BDSM lifestyle and experience to broaden kids' minds and understanding? And if we don't, why not?

The uproar is only from right wing LGBTQ hate groups. The author's of the books received death threats.
