Sagittarius A* is the Supermassive Black Hole at the center of our Galaxy and as such it is the reason for our existence , without it we would have no Galaxy to call home so it would be nice to have a picture of it.
The Event Horizon Telescope project is made up of a global network of radio telescopes who's aim is to use multiple ground based radio telescopes to image Supermassive Black Holes , in 2019 there was some excitement when the team announced they had imaged a Black Hole for the first time but a little disappointment when they revealed the Black Hole was Messier 87 and not Sagittarius A*

It was a cool thing but not our cool thing.

Three years on and the Event Horizon Telescope team have announced a "groundbreaking discovery in the Milky Way" will be revealed on May 12th , more than that they're not saying but speculation is that they have manged image Sagittarius A* , we may finally see the face of our parent Black Hole.

Since the scientists are hosting simultaneous press conferences around the globe, it's a good chance what they are keeping under wraps is the next instalment after the historic 2019 moment of the first black hole reveal.

A conference will be streamed about the findings online on 12 May 2022 at 15:00 CEST (13:00 UTC, 9:00 EST), followed by a YouTube event with six astronomers from around the world. Press releases will include "extensive supporting audiovisual material" (eek!).

If astronomers have managed to produce a direct image of Sgr A*'s event horizon, it will be a historic moment you don't want to miss.

More history in the making , I just hope we're still here to see it.

Isn't it weird? All this tech and stuff, yet there has never been a photo of 🌎🌍 from space..

Every last one is an animated interpretation, usually by former Hollywood animators.

Having personally seen the rings of Saturn in my youth with a telescope we set up in a field as a college outing using an 8" mirror, I am calling BS on the flat Earth theory. I will need to be taken to the glass dome and bounce off of it to ever believe there was one. We are not "Truman show" participants. Allow us to enjoy the spectacular improvement to science this represents. Thank you.

Far as i can establish the universe seems to be big enough to accommodate the needs of both man and god/gods.

Plus created in his image and all that jazz.

As to getting slapped, well the dinosaurs got "slapped", and far as im aware, they did not even have a space program.

"Satan that old Dragon".

Maybe we just have a problem with what part of history was manipulated so a narrative to bathe all us humans in so we want be able to know all the facts. Missing facts lead to incorrect theories.

Manipulating history may be one thing but then there are the fossil and geological records to consider also.

As to Satan well far as i can establish, that's probably "Pan" when you consider the similarities between the iconography of the Christian Devil and the Pagan deity.

I love the sky and its unknown borders! I like to watch its endless borders in the evenings, I also like to draw here creating masterpieces in drawing! New discoveries are always good!
