The US didn't go after Afghanistan because of Russia but:

The administration also enacted economic sanctions and trade embargoes against the Soviet Union, called for a boycott of the 1980 Moscow Olympics, and stepped up its aid to the Afghan insurgents.

But much later the US did the same and then it was a good thing, you see it's a game of power and control. The US is surely way more bad/evil then Russia, bar none after WW2. Or maybe when they go full nuclear soon, maybe not but hey the US planted all the seeds.
The Soviet Union even wanted to join Nato, but hey nothing better to have enemies for the war industry and have power and control.

I don't remember Yulia Tymoshenko being installed as President of Ukraine in 2014. She was the candidate the US backed after Yanukovych was legally impeached.

Also, the US didn't start sending lethal aid to Ukraine until 2019. Five years after Russia had started sending lethal aid and troops to Donbass.

Funny, I've been waiting for this too.

Putin thinks oil and gas are the end all, and be all, of everything. He's wrong

I disagree. The sanctions effectively block Russia from accessing accounts that contain anything but Rubles or gold so continuing to sell oil and gas to Europe for dollars, Euros, pounds sterling, etc would mean Russia effectively wouldn't be paid for what they're selling until this is all over... Would you sell someone something but wait months or years before actually getting paid for it, interest-free to boot?

Technically there is. When countries sources an energy source a legal contract is used. Russia, by demanding payments in Rubles, violates the contracts. As for wanting payments in different currencies sure, a country can do that. However it needs to be spelled out in the contract and determined before the contracts are agreed to and signed.

You dont / can't make unilateral changes to a contract in the middle of said contracts terms.

If a country does that they get to see the results from a breach of contract.

Poland's contract is up is what I read in the OP. Either they sign a new contract with the revision in it or they get cut off. This is not about existing contracts it is about renewing a contract from what I read.

Plus, paying for something in money that is worthless in a country would technically void any contract because the money is not worth anything because of sanctions...so the contract technically could be voided by Russia because they are not getting payment for their oil, just like other countries businesses can void contracts that Russia has with them.

This whole thing is so stupid I am sickened that anyone is literally taking vehemently emotional sides for countries they have never visited let alone lived in....

They support the current things. As instructed by their liberal overlords and the MSM. Sad really. I don't take either side. It's not my war and I don't care about either country.

There is no law that a country cannot demand payment in their own currency for products they sell.

There is when they entered contracts that specified payments in dollars and euros.

Gazprom fully halts gas supplies to Bulgaria’s Bulgargaz and Poland’s PGNiG due to their failure to pay in rubles

April 27, 2022, 09:00

As of the end of the working day on April 26, Gazprom Export did not yet receive from Bulgaria's Bulgargaz and Poland's PGNiG payments for the gas supplied in April, which were to be made in rubles as prescribed by the Russian President's Decree No. 172 dated March 31, 2022. Payments for gas supplied since April 1 must be made in rubles via new account details, of which the counterparties were duly informed.

In this connection, Gazprom Export has notified Bulgargaz and PGNiG of the suspension of gas supplies from April 27 until the payments are made according to the procedure outlined in the Decree.

Bulgaria and Poland are transit states. In case of unauthorized offtake of Russian gas from the volumes intended for transit into third countries, the transited supplies will be reduced by the volume that was offtaken.
