so this evening around dinner time my partner shouted me to come to the living room window she saw a strange aircraft
I ran to the window I immediately identified it as an Osprey , it was black or dark blue in colour it sort of appeared out of the west and flew to the
East this was around 6:30
there were two of them , I managed to get a video of one of them as it flew over head but the video isnt that great but you can clearly see its an
osprey . I asked one of my aircraft friends who was a pilot for the US navy and he tells me that the 7th SOS operate those out of the UK RAF bases.
here is the video
you have to excuse me saying "cool, did you get it?" as my partner was filming
I saw a couple of these about a year ago here in SW France. They flew over quite late at about 100m, scared the cr*p out of me.
It was night and I first thought it was a couple of Hercules Planes heading into Chateaubernard airbase, I heard them approaching from quite a
distance but when the sound got closer I realised what they were.
The amazing thing was, there were no lights on approach which was spooky, but when they passed over they had bright green lights on the bottoms of the
ends of their forward facing rotors which gave the illusion of two big circles for each. Obviously it's so they don't run into eachother if following
but it was a super cool sight.
Yeh it was pretty spectacular even if it was only for a few seconds
seeing them change direction from vertical to horizontal then go full speed was pretty cool
first time ive seen them in person flying outside of youtube or video games
