You letters from the post office will not be accepted if the mailing address is on the list of countries banned to receive mail from the USA.

I say this because this is what has happened in Japan.

I wonder if something is going on with Hotmail, I seem to have an inbox composed of last year's messages and no new ones. Except in "other."

From your link:

"It seems the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic is starting to affect Japan's national postal service.

Japan Post has announced that it will temporarily stop accepting international mail destined for 153 countries. For 126 of those countries, the suspension is limited to EMS and air mail, while other types of mail can still be sent. However, Japan Post is suspending sending all types of mail to the other 27 countries – a list which includes India, Iraq and New Zealand. You can see the full list of regions included in the suspension here. Any mail sent from these countries to Japan will still be accepted by Japan Post and delivered as normal."

So....not enough staff to process mail due to covid caused shortages.

Hopefully things get back to normal soon.

Sorry, but these type of threads are getting damn near to spam.

Bringing two year old stuff and claiming it is now is just damn lazy.

MIM, you can do better.

Please!!!

The article I posted was on the net, but the new info at Japan Post was a bit different and updated. I had to send a letter to Sweden, luckily Norway wasn't its destination.

Either way, my intention was to bring attention that this stuff could happen in America. I found out in America years ago you can send packages by air only by ship. And the prices are crazy even by surface. See how fast stuff changes when you don't use stuff for a long time.

LOL ... I understand (both perspectives). When I came off my last enduring overseas assignment ... 11 years in Seoul, Korea ... I cam home blind. All the payphones had disappeared. I had to ask if my cell phone was going to be billed for making a 'long distance' call if I called my brother in another state.

Things stationary people take for granted. LOL ... you should've see the looks I drew getting myself reoriented. Especially when you come back from a place as technologically advanced as Seoul is compared to the rest of the USA. Some of the stuff we think we're the greatest at (like high speed Internet) is just a joke. 7 years ago I had a 2TB connection that ran me a whopping $25/month. Do you know how fast a full length 4K movie downloads on a 2TB connection?

Anyway ... I digress ... I always try to give MiM a break posting from Japan and all.
