This sounds like a dumb question -- "nobody wants war!"

Really?

Of course, many are talking about Russia-Ukraine now. Funny, nobody talks about Yemen. A lot more people have died in that, supposedly.

But besides that...would YOU be bored without war of any kind?

As a society, I'm generally gonna say YES for many. We are engaged in wars of all kinds. Cyberwar, economic war, personal wars/vendettas, trade wars, war on drugs (complete failure), etc....... MSM in some places like to create conflict / wars even when none exist. (Race war) Gotta sell those newspapers and ad clicks. Web page impressions. Gotta protect certain economic classes - deflection.

And to wage traditional war (Whether civil or otherwise) - many companies are involved - building arms, testing weapons. The military-industrial complex. All the "cool technology" to develop.

Many top selling video games are all based on killing others. Whether it be more complex like HALO or even old school like SPACE INVADERS and GALAGA. War against "aliens."

...so there's the question.

Dont need war plenty of other entertainment to be had go fishing hunting or snowboarding.
Ride a bike spend time with friends family and loved ones.

Pick up the phone go out to dinner with people you haven't seen in years.

Way to much to list for entertainment so I say we don't need war for entertainment.

It makes sense if this is a simulation, if this is a game. Look at what we do with our "simulations." Most of them are FPS--First person shooters. The rest are MMORPGs where you keep score by how many enemies you kill. There are not many "Dora the explorer" type games where the world is benign. If you are not blowing up tanks and killing people you are slaying dragons and monsters. Face it: Sitting in an office staring at spreadsheets and "competing" about who can enhance productivity is boring as hell.

If you "have served" and are honest with yourself, what is the most exciting thing you have ever done? The truthful answer, not the politically correct one, is "being in combat."

The old sci-fi trope humans are a war-making society, and it's all we are good for, and/or we must eliminate those instincts to ascend to the next evolutionary plane.

Not sure if I prescribe to that notion, though there is plenty of evidence

www.psychologytoday.com...

One of the founders of evolutionary psychology, E.O. Wilson, referred to warfare as “humanity's hereditary curse,” whereas another evolutionary psychologist, Steven Pinker, has suggested that "chronic raiding and feuding characterize life in a state of nature.”

However, there is a great deal of evidence suggesting that this view is false. In 2005, I published a book called The Fall, which argued that the human race’s prehistory was relatively harmonious, and that phenomena such as warfare, male domination, social hierarchies and theistic religions only began to emerge around 6000 years ago, due to the development of a strong sense of individuality and separation. At the time of the book’s publication, the idea that prehistoric hunter-gatherer groups were peaceful and egalitarian was more controversial.

Those who crave the adventures of war, have never been under fire. Have never seen friends or loved one injured or killed.

Well...SPORTS is the LANGUAGE of WAR.

shoot (basketball), defend, steal, hit, attack (soccer)...just a few words. Offense, defense...a duality.
