Sadly this will also affect all the decent Russians of whom there are many-those recent protestors for example.
But it should go along way towards turning more people against putin,although I suspect far more than the protestors already think this is not a wise course of action.

And then some reports are saying that Russians are using old weaponry. Cannot believe they are not well equipped. Specifically when planning an invasion like that. So many things do not make sense here.

I still will hope that he decided to back off for good.

Part of it is an over estimation of Russian military strength. In triuth they should have plowed through cities like Kharkiv since they are on the Russian border however reality is Ukraine is slugging it out with Russian military. In an invasion time is against the agressors. The longer it takes the more the advantage slips to Ukraine. In a defence posture the longer the invasion takes the more resistance the attackers will meet. Every bit of armor he sent into Ukraine can and will be destroyed the longer this goes on. To make matters worse for Russia fighters are streaming across the border from neighorig countries who see Ukraine as just the first step to an Russian invasion of eastern europe.

The war is on Ukraine's soil, not on Russia's. Ukraine is sustaining damage. A few years down the road, the war continues, more and more land will fall to Russians.
