For those not aware, Victoria is still in financial dire straits.

Please look at the following report, though this report is dated, the cost blowouts are now much bigger, the west gate tunnel is estimated to now cost in the region of several BILLION DOLLARS!!!

Now Daniel Andrews is pushing to host the commonwealth games, we are already dk in debt he wants to throw this cost blowout into the equation.

The cost of the games in Queensland cost 1.8 billion, though with dans cost blowouts it will probably cost 5 BILLION.

I did hear on the radio before that it will be put through “a rigorous cost/benefit analysis”.

Problems are;

-The Andrews government isn’t fit to manage a school canteens financials
-They want to host it in regional Victoria

The second point at face value seems like a big win for us out here although, after building the infrastructure required when will stadiums that host thousands of people ever be used again? How much to maintain them and for what purpose?

I see he also admitted today that mandating a third booster is not really feasible.

Absolutely, totally and definitely coincidentally he also faces a state election in November. I’m sure neither of the two points above relate to that.

I doubt the cost benefit analysis would be legit, he just wants it for pride, as no other country wants the games, let it slide.

Agreed I said to the Missus why regional areas? If means upgrades and rebuilds of old infrastructure for a one off use all the major stadiums and infrastructure are city base or surrounds, and are good quality.

No ideawhy he wants to throw all this money at it when major infrastructure is already there.

Then we need to also consider that local councils in regional areas will be burdened with maintenance costs of the infrastructure, already stretching stretched council budgets.

Sadly rates will increase in regional areas where employment is hard to come by, and push many to the wall or worse.

He has already screwed hospitality In Melbourne and now he wants to screw regional vic and indebt them with massive expenses to locals and councils.

I have said many times on my other threads he wants to have a fire sale for the state of Victoria to the Chinese.

He should be charged with treason.

How else can you put it, while times are bad one needs to pull in the purse strings. And slow down on spending.

How does it makes sense to commit to approx 60 billion dollars of massive spending, when a large proportion of people are massively underemployed.

He is not doing his job, how do you even support Andrews?

If he was doing his job properly, he should be aiming to build a budget credits not a big deficit.

Lol, if you understood my earlier post I said spending needs to be slowed down on massive infrastructure spending, it is absolutely not nescessary at this moment.

Money needs to be kept in reserve for ambulances, healthcare, education.

Look how opposed Andrews was to granting pay rises to ambo’s though coughed up for police funding.
