As far as I remember after an event the initial commentary, was always in French as this is the official language of the olympics.

After unfortunately watching the winter games, and several events, why the hell are the initial results announced in cantonese.

Is this just another piss on the rest of the world and China trying to force their domination by trying to use Cantonese as an official language?

Or I guess the French don’t give a damn about the olympics as it’s all a joke now and the games days are numbered.

Or the IOC have been bought out!

Per the IOC the official languages for broadcast are French and English, however it is tradition to also include that of the host nation.

Not sure, I haven't watched a second and don't plan on it.
I used to look forward to the Games but it has turned into some kind of woke, virtue signaling competition.
No thanks, and that's a shame.

Maybe your broadcasters/commentators are the problem and not the actual games.

I haven't noticed the woke, virtue signalling watching our broadcast in Australia.

I've really enjoyed watching the games so far

People around here, are just trying to figure out why we have an English lady, doing commentary, here in the US.

And how they can be so awful, like in the snowboard competition, where the commentators are talking over each other, so you can't understand any of it.

It's been just bad all around.

How can french (not capitalized, by the way) be the official language of the OLYMPICS, when the whole thing was invented in Greece?

Also, aren't there more pressing matters to talk about besides some comment localization shenanigans of a trivial and useless (but destructive and damaging) flex opportunity for small groups of the materialistically advantaged to keep people distracted since the ancient times so they can't see what the governments are doing (i.e. bread and circuses)?

Just asking.
