Which is worst drug use or homelessness on streets

I m bring this up because now in this country we are seeing a very decline in what was a hidden culture.
Street people are now all to common and are destroying the safety of our childrens parks. Drug use is now in our high schools. Low level high schools have a recruiting problem. Nationwide shortage if over 2400 teachers exist. Teacher burnout us at an all time hugh.
Not sure which is worse . And child neglect is also rampant. Is society falling apart ?

I bring this up because its on tv more these days. The elderly are shoplifting mire also. And the young here are growing up as latchkey kids.

Drug Use leads to homelessness .

you would be hard pressed to find a Homeless person who is not Addicted to Drugs or an Alcoholic.

These go hand in hand. Chronic drug use + untreated mental illness almost always results in homelessness.

Id guess 90% of the homeless in my area are addicts. Most i see around here are clearly on heroin.

A few are just crazy.

None are homeless because of housing costs, bad luck, etc....

I cold Turkey kicked my pot smoking habbit back in November after smoking daily for like fifteen years. I'm not evensure how I did it. Just like a switch flipped suddenly and I was tired of feeling like an alcoholic that had to be intoxicated at all times during nonnwork hours, but a weed version.

I cannot really explain it. It's odd though how much more people offer me free smoke sessions when i admit it's been months. I tell them it's been choice, and then they question why?? Maybe I just got tired of feeling like an addict, because that is exactly how I felt.

In any case, i can save more and i actually dream when i sleep now.

That's good to hear cold turkey, that's impressive how long till the craving stopped? felt the same way when I quit tobacco, saved so much money it's crazy, the best thing though was the energy. Long term anything is hard to quit, CBD helps a little

You said the magic word " CRAVING ".
A long as one has a craving for something, that habit will not stop. Some people go to AA, but as long as they can not fight off the craving, all doctors will tell you , expect a relapse .

The craving was there for weeks. But the serious jonsing feeling for me usually goes away after 48-72 hours. It crosses my mind still, but i try to remember scenes from tv shows or movies where someone honorable is about to slip up, and then in the very last moment they don't go through with it. Like the original captain from law and order svu. I remember his character's testimony about the long hard road he had staying sober. And in at least one episode, he grabs a bottle from a stash, and deliberates over it for some time, before finally realising what a mistake it would be and changes his mind.

I know it's just a fictional character and moment, but that ordeal, that experience is real, and I can understand it all too well. So I just accept what I know the right choice is to make, Knowing too many others can also relate to that pain. It hurts being in that moment, where you feel like your going to slip up, almost like you feel you have to do it. But the relief that comes when you snap out of it, when you choose correctly .... It feels so much better. Like the world just got lifted off your shoulders and you know it will be along time before that moment, that battle returns some day.

Because those moments never go away forever. Eventually, there will be an experience or time where the battle begins anew. I just always hope that I can still win that next time. Because I know if I lose, it will be a long journey of despair and self loathing in a repeating cycle rationalizing the habit once more. I think that's the scariest thought right there.

Implying home owners (not to mention business owners and officials) aren't actively doing drugs inside their cozy private residences. Or did you think that drugs are being doled out to people who can't afford property taxes?

Begging.

In the US the homeless have first option or front of the line in federal housing programs even if other people have been on the list for a year or so. Basically a homeless person can go into any cities section 8 area housing authority office and say they are homeless and the Housing Authority will take it from there. Basically from there means housing, food, and healthcare.

The best thing to do when someone asks anything that "looks" homeless?(sometimes or often times they are not); is: Do you know where the Housing Authority is? If they say: No? Then tell them where one(be sure to find out) is and let them know that the services there will help them.

I grew up on the streets around a lot of drugs. Was homeless for many years. Seen more homeless kids than homeless adults.

Trust me homelessness is way way worse than drug use.

It's got to be the homeless problem , I got the drug problem sorted at my end but I see no homeless in my area ,if I did I could sell them something to make them sleep better on these cold nights

It's hard to be a addict and not eventually become homeless. Eliminate homelessness and the addicts dry up. And vice versa.

When someone hits rock bottom there better be rocks. Line it with pillows and cushions and there's no incentive to get out of there. 30 days for vagrancy was a good start usually.
