Israeli scientists had enabled 12 paralyzed mice to move again after implanting new cord tissue from human cells into the animals

“If this works in humans, and we believe that it will, it can offer all paralyzed people hope that they may walk again,”

discussions concerning clinical trials have commenced with the US Food and Drug Administration

the Israeli study is the first to develop pieces of actual spine engineered from human cells

Israeli scientists have developed a way of growing a new spinal cord for implantation. Their methods have resulted in curing mice of long-term paralysis, and they are now in talks with the FDA concerning clinical trials.
If done in humans, the spinal cord would be grown from the patient's own cells, reducing the chances of rejection or failure.

This is awesome news, and I hope it progresses quickly. The ability to repair the spinal cord will have far-reaching implications.

Big Pharma good we cured paralysis and cancer.

They are just going to release the cure they have had forever.

Look at what they have done with Ivermectin and hydro

My question would be...why and how were the mice paralysed in the first place? Each paralysed human would become paralysed from different and individual causes.

Sounds like someone who steals your wallet to help you find it so they then become your best friend.

I had just supposed that they were talking about traumatic injuries... but the article quotes the guy, "it can offer all paralyzed people hope that they may walk again,”

So if someone is paralyzed due to a disease such as ALS, they expect to get them up and about again?
I have my doubts.

The mice would have been paralyzed by the researchers so they could research cures for their paralysis. That's how research mice work... Researchers breed or otherwise inflict them with various ailments to work on curing or treating those ailments in the mice before moving on to human testing when something successful is found.

I don't think they have managed to cure cancer yet just4fun, that really would be the ticket, and somewhat the holy grail where current medical science is concerned.

Some forms have become treatable but an actual broad spectrum cure might be rather hard to achieve given the nature of the beast in question.

I pray that you are correct all the same as my step dad has stage 3 lung cancer, received radio and chemo therapies for such, and apparently the growth which amounted to 2% of the lung, and which had spread to a lymph node has shrunk for the timer being.
