Whats app now wants you to go online with your computer

Whats app is owned now by FB and now they will have your phone number if you go online on your computer. Not sure how all that works but it will now have your address also.

and when you cant there are services online where you can add cash to an account and will create a card for you for that one time use.


the fact people are plugging there personal data in alone blows my mind then they add their banking stuff in is even crazier.

That is probably due to the democrats passing law that every app like Whats App, etc has to report your transactions to the IRS for tax (evasion) purposes. It was in the infrastructure bill they passed. The bank account part was in the BBB act they have been having issues passing, thank you Manchin.

The elites control and money sapping automation is rolling into full effect like the communist left wants.

ETA: I am in Cybersecurity. If you put your banking or financial info, much less anything else into a computer, phone, tablet, etc., don't cry when you lose it all. I see it daily.

There's no protection against unauthorized transactions in the US?

It's common sense not to give bank details away but as far as I'm aware all the pre-approved systems that are used for bank transactions are secure, if they become unsecure that's not the consumer's problem.

If you send money to a fraudster it's a different story but then that is a crime, in the UK and EU this would still have you be compensated if you follow the right protocol.

As for WhatsApp, I use it myself. As far as I'm aware you cannot use it without a mobile/cellphone number as they verify the app with your number and that's also how people contact you. In essence It's an online profile for your mobile number, you can be contacted via your number by anyone on WhatsApp depending on settings.

Similar to Skype but for your number... Is there databases linking your number to you? Most likely if you're on a network plan? I don't think WhatsApp has any email address for me and I don't backup or link it with anything.

They want access to your system. Same reason everything is "free". Porn is free because it drives up massive foot traffic and they get people's information off their computers. Apps are free because they get permissions from installation that gather your data.

The 4th Industrial Revolution crap is all about AI and your personal data. Total control and zero privacy. Most of the tech and services they are, or will be, putting out is designed to use your data, so they will be trying to get it.

Some basic things that people can do:
If there's no need to use a mobile app on a PC, don't use it.
Put tape over your monitor video lens.
Muffle the monitor's speakers and use auxiliary ones to listen to.
Switch to linux; not perfect, but much safer than Windows or Mac. When I use a Windows box, I feel contaminated. I'm used to my quiet linux set up and Windows seems to be using max processor capabilities non-stop. Always whirring and digging. I forget linux is even on its so quiet.
Don't install needless apps, and use email more often.
Treat your personal data as if someone is trying to steal it.
Don't use default storage locations on your PC. Make them work for your data. Move things to external storage devices.

I will say that the newer linux updates have some questionable aspects. Their updates, on my system, seem to be geared to read metadata and, I suspect, are removing some of the barriers to access. So, I don't expect linux to be great much longer. But, for now, I can choose which updates to ignore.

Whatsapp has been owned by FB for years and have you ever heard about web.whatsapp.com? Of course they will have your phone number, it's logic. Whatsapp account works over your phone number, they have it anyways.

If you talk about the cookie being set when using web.whatsapp.com... regardless, FB has all your contacts anyways since they changed their fine print and can scan your contacts and check out if you have friends on FB sort of. You think they have all your contacts but not your phone number already?

Not supporting it but you are a few years too late with your warning.

Not using WhatsApp on your computer would be a solution.

WhatsApp messages are still peer to peer encrypted for what it's worth and I'm unsure how a program in your PC, especially as high profile as WhatsApp can transmit all of your PC and browsing history.

Not saying it isn't happening but from a legality perspective any crime agency will just contact your ISP. Anything permissable in a court of law has to be obtained via the proper channels in any nation that keeps up the appearance of law and order whilst respecting human rights. Useless data in a court of law without the right documents that allow such scrutiny.

What I'm saying is they don't need WhatsApp to harvest information "illegally" because it was all harvested as soon as it was converted to a signal. The CIA have your online history already... All the eyes do.

If you're really worried use burner phones, never save contacts on your old Nokia and destroy the SIM card after each brief chat. Or carrier pigeons, I imagine animal welfare is quite the stickler these days.

FB is already installed on many smart phones and so is all that Google stuff, as far as I'm aware software like this can't be removed. Lots of assumed permissions and sneaky ways of harvesting data too. Google is worse.

Consumer protection is one thing the EU gets right imho. That said it's an uphill battle especially for the consumer. You need to be fairly well versed if privacy is an issue and you wish to stop data harvesting.
