That said, those aren't the only options. I don't watch any cable. Frankly, I don't see the point of paying for crap programming (not just news, all of it). Not only just spending money on bad content, but also that about a third of viewing is ads.

You're also right that they don't just get money from viewership, but also a cut of cable subscription premiums just for being part of the package... Which brings me back to my initial point.

I've reshaped how I get news, and while it's not perfect, it's leaps and bounds better than cable or MSM outlets.

DW on YouTube is a German outlet comparable to PBS. It has a slight left lean on things like climate change and social issues, but they're still very skeptical about the china/west paradigm. In the end, it's not overtly bias and offers an outward perspective as US media is typically narrow in scope.

If you're looking for decent print media, check out financial focused outlets. They're not going to get sucked in to partisanship as much because they have to be more realistic about outcomes. Allowing bias to always shine through will blind people when it comes to investing.

Podcasts are a great source for audio news, and there are plenty of people who are hard to identify their bias because they're very good at delivering things in a dry way... And there are others who are very honest about their bias and aren't pundity about delivering their content. Many of them are still critical of the institutional side of their ideology.

Stop watching cable for news, and ideally cut out cable all together. It's a trash overpriced product, IMO.

Our local channel has many of these misinformation commercials, especially during the news. I suppose they need the money from these commercials to keep their heads above water along with all the pharmaceudical commercials. Seems businesses locally are not doing so great so they aren't advertising much and of course, if they say anything controvercial at our local station, the big company that owns them now would probably close them down or have people canned.

I think that cold viruses percolate more in winter time. I haven't seen huge spikes in sick people in summertime until this covid injection went around.

Have you ever been in the south during super hot weather? You stay inside with the air conditioning when possible. Nothing pleasant about 95 degree weather and 80% humidity in the south.
