I thought that this was an interesting article and worth sharing. The Netherlands has been consistently using a genetic RNA analysis test since the spring of 2018 to assist in diagnosing pediatric cancer. The test sequences RNA and is valuable to identifying exactly what type of cancer the children have.

Article is titled “One single genetic test for all children with cancer improves diagnosis and treatment”. Here is a direct quote “A piece of tumor tissue is taken from all children with cancer to determine the exact form of their disease. The piece of tissue is looked at under the microscope, but also analyzed for genetic faults. Changes in both DNA and RNA – a translation of the DNA code – can provide important clues about the exact cancer type, the aggressiveness of the tumor, and the possible benefit of targeted drugs.”

Science has come a long way since single-cell RNA sequencing was introduced in 2009…here we are just 13 years later rolling out mRNA vaccines to the public.
