Sure they probably should be doing so. There's a whole lot of things people should be doing when using apps like Tinder. My eldest knows of someone who was cannibalized by a Grndr date.

As we say with younger kids I think still applies to those in their late teens early 20s, they may not think properly or think nothing bad will ever happen to them.

I don't know if checking ID'S is usually the norm in dating these days. Maybe it should be.

When seeking out the youngest 'dates' possible, it is a requirement.

When seeking out 'dates' near their age it isn't.

Oh I do agree, kids will be kids. As I stated I was doing things my parents didn't know about, however I never felt I could confide in my parents about anything.

Mine have done a minor thing or two, but they always confess. They figure I will bust them if they don't. The reason I am more open with mine is because mine weren't. Discussions with the realization that a kid may do or try something but stressing the safety of themselves is paramount. Explaining dangers, consequences and the fact that I would kick their butt and be highly disappointed if they ruin their future seems to have worked so far.

That wouldnt work either when i was 17 I had ID that said I was 21 getting a fake ID is easy when you have access to a computer i used my lerners permit and it even had the state seal at the time. If someone is passing themselves off as being older it be hard to detect. We dot kow how far she went but if she was drivig around and had an apartment to ring him back to it be difficult to know. The judge looked at her and thought that it was plausible the guy was played I believe the judge was female as well

With makeup, I can see it becomes difficult to tell. Even my daughter looks older when she applies makeup her friend i mentioned earlier easily passes for 20 something. Kids thanks to the internet share makeup tips and become experts its not like a couple of decades ago when the only help they could get was their mom.

I have no doubt a 12 year old girl could look much older if she tried.

No-one has to carry ID around with them in the UK.
Most teenagers and people in their early 20's do though as they are frequently challenged to prove their age when going into pubs/clubs or buying cigarettes etc.

When I had my own pubs, worked doors etc we had a Challenge 21 - some places even have Challenge 25 - where if we suspected a person maybe under 21 we asked for ID before allowing them entrance or serving them even though 18 is the legal age to drink in the UK.

But of course its not hard to get snide ID if you want....in fact its pretty easy.
To be honest most doormen/bar staff only give ID a cursory glance.

I very much doubt anyone is going to ask a girl for ID before trying to chat her up.

I accept that girls can do themselves up and make themselves look a lot older than they actually are.
But as has been said, a person would have to be incredibly stupid not to realise after anything more than a brief conversation that they were talking to a relative child and not someone who is more or less an adult. Its my experience that there's a massive difference between 12 and 16 year old's.....even the most worldly wise 12 year old's.

Ignorance of the law is no excuse.

As far as I can tell there can be no justifiable excuse for this.
The guy should be lifed off, no chance of getting out early - no excuse.

I take your point as to the makeup making girls look older.

Bit more to it than just the way they look all the same.

Most normal 20 year old men should be able to tell the difference between an 18 year old woman and a 12 year old girl.

Simple as that really, else serious questions need to be answered.

Thanks to our American diet, there are many young girls that have more breasts and curves than some adult women.

I don't want anyone to make the mistake that I am supporting what happened to this young girl, but we can't turn a blind eye to the fact that this is not an isolated incident.

Many young girls today are not your sweet, innocent, Daddy's girls.

Some of the young girls have had hard lives. Some have been groomed from ages as young, or younger than seven.

As disgusting as it is, some girls are considered too old by the time she is 12, and are released to the streets.

I will not go into the particulars of just how advanced prostitution, and human trafficking has become with the aide of the internet.

I can tell that many here could be easily fooled, because they don't realize just how deep this evil industry goes.

Many get trapped by this system and in this system. The average person can't allow themselves to even think about it. That is exactly why it has been so successful for so long.
