Hello ATS members
I'm going to put this with MiM's Street Talk since it is coming our way, whether we like it or not. So , I'm not one for giving advice so its up to you folks to get out and buy them since they are most likely going to be the trend world wide.

Here is the catch, you all may not know this , but the mask takes oil to be made, yes you read that right, oil to make them. Guess what, a shortage of oil is/will be the real cause of the shortage that may last a long time. Of course, we can make our own, but that may not fly in the future.

You all remember the first shortage, don't ya. I do.

I will keep wearing my cloth masks, I am not afraid of this virus. I do believe that they are actually a good thing to wear in some conditions where risk is high. Like a crowded store, or when I am mowing the leaves. or when I am sanding the paint on the car and priming and painting the spots I fixed.

I do have some n95s, but I plan on using those for when I fix up the rust on my vehicles or am doing real dusty work. If they mandate those expensive masks when out and about, I will just make my garden bigger and grow food for us. I like gardening anyway. I wonder how high heating fuel will go this year, maybe I should order a load of logs for the woodstoves.

Is this like the French Fry shortage in Japan that was going on while my farmer cousin in Montana couldn't even give potatoes away and had to destroy 800 tons of them?

So a double folded handkerchief or bandana won't work? It's all Ive been using when I go into a store or restaurant since the pandemic started. No one has said anything.

I don't wear masks. If they tell me a mask is required I leave and take my business elsewhere.

Nothing new. There is a shortage on plastic pellets used to make the fibers and other products up the production chain. Conductor insulation is one topic where there are problems currently.

Prices for metal and especially Al soaring currently. Prices doubled almost. Milling down a 2.5feet x 1feet x 1.5feet cube of high density aluminium into billet products, feels like burning money in the stove now.

Everything went up last year and still rising.

Probably due to flooding in BC, somehow.

Right?

Oil is used to make plastic...

There is no shortage of the material used to make masks....not that it matters, anyway.

The production of everything is somehow dependent of the supply of crude oil.

Synthetics are pretty much 100% dependent on crude for their existence.

Masks are made of synthetic materials, therefore dependent on the supply of crude oil. If the supply of crude is choked, the supply of N95 masks along with many other conveniences of modern life will suffer.

No argument there.

Now show mw some data that I can draw that conclusion from? That's why I responded to the OP the way I did. He just comes up with bs scenarios with no sources or data.

We can make masks that are just as effective, as the crap people are wearing, out of cotton.

I haven't seen any hint of mask shortages, unless it's because our government's have orchestrated one.

Do you honestly believe people did not know oil was used to make plastic? dam you either think nothing of the intelligence of the people who use this webisite or you believe you have a higher level of intelligence than all others before you.

Farmers in both Canada and the U.S. had to destroy nearly their entire crops of potatoes. Here's an article from 2020 that that goes into why.
potato farmers destroying potatoes even in a food shortage

Here's one from 3 months ago but does not really get into why. The reasons are the same from the preceding article.
During the pandemic, why are large amounts of potatoes dumped away

I imagine a mask shortage will be like all of the other shortages. Some people will be able to easily find them, while others won't. It'll all depend on your location. My local grocery stores haven't been out of anything that we buy for the entire scamdemic. As for masks, it looks like they have several displays full of them and people aren't buying them.

Ha! This is one of your rediculous sky is falling stories i hope does come true. No more masks please, just leave them to the professional settings and situations they were made for, as they are virtually useless in the community settings as so many virtue signalling twits are simply using them as chin straps anyways.

If it’s good enough for Wesley, it’s good enough for me lol.

The dread pirate Roberts predicted mask mania decades ago.

Andre the giant liked him and that man was a shrewd judge of character.
