The complicated ice conditions on the Russian Arctic shipping route have taken shippers by surprise. The waters along the eastern parts of the sea route were ice-covered already in late October, which is several weeks earlier than normal. By early November it was almost impossible to sail through the area without assistance from a powerful icebreaker.

so it seems that the logistics community has concluded that Global Warming has opened up more ice-free ocean in the Arctic
but not this year

are these shipping companies sending these ships up there gambling that they will have safe ice-free passage, based on all the global warming rhetoric? does the science back this?

When you look at the world through the lens of cycles, things tend to clear up quickly.

The problem with calling it global warming is that it confuses people who don't understand that the warming is an aggregate effect, let alone realise the complexities of climate systems. That's why it's now called climate change - like in the excerpt you posted.

To break it down even further, some temperatures will go up in some places, down in others, up in summer, down in winter, but the average global temperature across the year is rising.

If common sense was enough, we wouldn't have invented mathematics or electrical fuses or the kind of modelling those shipping companies use to make sure they don't lose money.

Haven't you heard? They rebranded it "climate change" to stack the deck in favor of their shoddy "science."

Now that it's called climate change, if it gets warmer some places, it's proof they're right. If it gets colder some places, it's proof they're right. The only way they can be wrong is if the climate stays precisely static, which is impossible.

Several things puzzle me.

1. how much damage is done to Ice sheets by the massive ice breakers breaking the surface open. Doesn't breaking the sheets up cause faster melting?

2. Volcanos under the poles. Artic and Antarctic

Saw a whole paper on the Pine island melt caused by humans yet not 1 word about the volcano erupting underneath it.

These glaciers have attracted attention in recent decades as their ice shelves thinned because warmer ocean currents melted the ice's underside.

Hope they added into their models the natural heat sources to the model predictions.
