I felt inspired from some articles I read.

This consists of two parts.

If as musky says he wants to colonise mars, and terraform and create an atmosphere from one article I read he wants to nuke the poles on mars to release water vapour to create an atmosphere.

As there seems to be a slowdown on the manufacturing of the raptor could this throw a spammer in his long term plan?

In order to lift the immense weight of the nuclear devices, the raptor seems to be the ideal candidate to lift the load.

Thoughts?

Secondly, his idea of the reusable rocket and self landing craft just seems to be over engineered and unreliable.

Why over complicate and have multiple functions and systems which are not perfect.

Why not just have a two stage system and once the first stage is exhausted, parachute it back to re-use.

It just looks like show ponying to show how over complex I can make a rocket.

Just seems pretty stupid.

I dont like the snake oil salesman.

I was at a gathering and a relative is looking at spending 35 thousand in a Tesla solar system and batteries. I explained before you do make sure you ask for the tesla battery degradation figures.

I also explained the volatility of lithium batteries, and explained there are cheaper and better options out there.

My family member said, people are jealous of disrupters, he the said he had a talk to one of the cousins, who sells Tesla power crap That Tesla is the best. Of course the cousin would say that! I thought.

Obviously my brother in law is too stupid to do his research.

Ah well another sucker.

Topic nuke mars poles:
He will not be able to pull it off without scientific / governmental agreement, so if you're hinting on sabotage, I guess it would be from outside that said community. Even if he pulls it off, he still has to live here on Earth for a while, has his resources here.

He's basically grounded, if he pulls it off without agreement and TPTB dissaprove, he's done. Not dead but they will do everything to ground him somewhere. Literally and figurative at the same time.

Topic re-useable rockets:
It's necessary. Because you need re-useable rockets / spacecraft to be self sustainable. His company showed it's doeable and from reading, it seems like no one expected it to work. Yet it does.

Topic snake oil salesmen:
I don't have an opinion on Musks personality, but I can see his / his teams achievements and I respect that.

Your family member is correct, people are jealous of disrupters. It's not only jealousy, it's kind of joining a often brainless group-mentality. Tribalism. It's actually a protection mechanism so bear with me before you feel attacked. In social group dynamics, scrutinizing a new idea is very important because it can save the group getting extinct by their own dumbness.

But this scrutinizing, mixed with the group dynamic of bonding (and a lot of other things ongoing), makes it easier to just adapt the group think.

That's how one idiot can start a rumor and after a critical tipping point, it exponentionally grows. Because, if 100k people sputter nonsense, it has to be right...

right?

signed, probably another sucker to you

There have been 108 attempts at Falcon recoveries, of which 96 have been successful. And that's in over 130 launches of F9, and there have been only two actual failures. That is incredibly reliable, considering many of the failures were early on in the program or associated with high risk launches.

At least two Falcon boosters have been launched 10 times, a handful more have been up at least 9 times. They're still in active inventory, going to be reused on other flights.

Why not just have a two stage system and once the first stage is exhausted, parachute it back to re-use.

Possible, yes. But not great for reusability. First, you lose payload mass for the parachutes and hardware. You need a way to deploy them reliably, which is also a whole slue of tests. You can say that this is negated by not needing the extra fuel and landing legs, sure. Secondly, the propulsive landing allows for a much quicker turn around time. Why? Not being submerged in highly corrosive salt water primarily.

Then why are other companies and nations emulating SpaceX? Look at Russia's Amur and China's CALT, for example.

I think you might need to do some more research yourself

Ummm…falcon nine reusability

That was as of 08/08/2020…

simultaneous booster landings

Starship 15 aces the landing

So…your one of the…we should just do the old tried and true…single use rockets…like we did in the 60’s…

You know…the ones that cost billions of dollars…each…

Why pursue reusability…and cut the cost down to one million per rocket…when we can just waste billions and billions on single launch systems…after all…the tax-payer…would rather spend billions per rocket than just a measly million dollars…

Am I right…?

You…just like every other bonehead that rehashes your tired old arguments…simply doesn’t have the mental acuity to comprehend what’s being accomplished by SpaceX…

So…why bother attempting to explain it to you…there aren’t enough really small words in the lexicon…

SMEffingH…

Please…

Ummm…the Nuke Mars thing was an off the cuff answer to a question he was posed…not a serious consideration…

Yet the MSM ran with it…

Just like they do all the time…make news…so that the plebs can be led thither and yon…

They must have the healthiest laugh muscles on the freaking planet…
