Russian boy at the cost of his life protected his sister from a pedophile

I want to tell you a story that is both tragic and heroic. About how a 7-year-old boy, at the cost of his life, saved his sister from a pedophile.

Thirteen years ago, at this time in the village of Dubrovo near Moscow, something happened that the locals would not be able to forget, even if they wanted to. The memorial in the school yard will always remind them of the tragedy - a little boy covers the white dove, driving away the black kite from it. This is Zhenya Tabakov, who died at the age of seven, saving his sister from a rapist.

On that day, the brother and sister were alone at home. The doorbell rang. The man at the door said that he was a postman and that he had a letter for their mother, saying that they had to sign the receipt.

The guys believed and let the stranger in. And then he took out a knife. The attacker demanded to give him valuable things, but seven-year-old Zhenya and twelve-year-old Yana did not know where they were kept.

Then the robber sent the boy to look for jewelry, and in the meantime he decided to have some fun with the girl and dragged her into the bathroom. Noticing this, Zhenya grabbed a kitchen knife and tried to hit the monster with it, but how could the little hands of first-graders cope with an angry adult man ...

The robber released Yana, and he himself began to stab her brother with a knife, one after another. The shocked girl managed to run out of the apartment and began to call for help. The noise frightened the attacker and he fled.

Zhenya actually bled to death - he was taken to the hospital, but they did not have time to save him. The boy, who was not afraid to stand alone against the hardened criminal for the sake of his sister, died in the hands of doctors.

His killer could not escape retribution. It turned out to be a visitor from Astrakhan, 33-year-old Sergei Kiyashko. Previously, the man had already served time for murder and robbery. In Russian prisons, pedophiles are treated in a special way.

Kiyashko was detained, but did not have time to convict: he was found dead in solitary confinement. The official version is that he committed suicide, although one can make any guesses: it is well known that rapists, especially pedophiles, are dealt with quickly and harshly in prisons.

After Zhenya's death, his family received comprehensive support: for example, all the specialists of the Ministry of Education of the Moscow Region transferred their daily wages to the Tabakovs' account. Zhenya's mother Galina decided to leave the village, where everything reminded her of her deceased son - the family bought a house in another city with the money raised. The chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Alexander Bastrykin, also rendered great help - he helped Galina Tabakova get a job not far from her new home.

His mother and sister regularly visit the boy's grave in the village of Stromyn. Another child soon appeared in their family: Galina got married and gave birth to a son. Now Kolya is already attending school. She became a mother and a sister - a few years ago Yana married a policeman, they had a daughter, Alice.

The school, in the courtyard of which there is a monument to Zhenya Tabakov, bears his name. The little boy was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage, and Zhenya became the first such a young resident of Russia to be awarded such a high award.

That boy has my respect, but I am not pleased with the outcome. I wish that that guy had been hung by his nuts for a while before he died, I hope that the guy was tortured well before his assisted suicide.

The boy awoke that morning as a boy. He sure did die as a man, regardless of his age. Sad story, but it needs to be told. I hope he is looking at the face of Jesus right now!

What an amazing young man. To have that much fight at 7. So sad that he is no longer with us.

Glad the pedo is dead though.

Death gave him the easier way out, he should be sitting for this until his heart stops naturally.

Torturing someone back isn't the way to go though. For one, there needs to be a torturer, someone sadistic that can take the mental burden. Do we want to enable such a mindset in general? It's a slippery slope for sure. And do we want to (ab)use such in theory good people (the torturer) and darken their soul for what purpose.

Someone like him ending up in prison.. karma will serve.
Yes that's basically the same a level deeper, but we do not need to cherrish torturing like that. It will lead to acceptance of former and if only so little. If I had to choose between "enjoyment" in the thought to know that low life is tortured and not enabling such a job at all, I would choose the latter.

Because we're not living in medieval times anymore. We would only lower ourselves to that energetic level, wishing torture on someone.

Locked away in a small cell constantly watching the back is torture enough. We all know how such people are dealt with from books, TVs and ex prisoners. And these are the things I or a guard can hardly prevent. That does not make it right though, it's the way it goes. If you diddle with kids you have a crosshair on your back in jail.

That didn't stop the perv so in a way that was accepted upfront.

I was 6 and my sister was 9 and we were left home alone for a few hours.
A man came to our apartment and said he had a delivery for my mom.
My dumb a## sister said “Our parents aren’t home so we can’t open the door”.
The man insisted he had to give us the package.

Just at that moment I saw my parents pull up outside and told him they just pulled up.
The guy took off………………

Can you even imagine? My parents were really shaken and did not know who it was.

People are always watching, guard your children.

Good lesson to teach the kids too:

If you're on the sidewalk and a car stops to ask you for the way, like twenty years ago when navigation wasn't a widespread thing...

You let one handle of the backpack slip down your shoulder. If the car door opens you DROP it, maybe try to kick the door and then scramble away screaming for help. The town I grew up was on a transit road between to autobahns / highways. It happened often that people would be redirected through our town and be lost.

And there was one occasion where the passenger opened the door instead of the window and I already walked back two steps, the man noticed and closed it again, let down the window and he knew exactly why I reacted the way I did. I could see the conflict in his face as I said the door stays close.

That's a good advice that seemingly is like common sense, because the person got it the second I dropped my backpack and determined if I have time to kick the door or just run. I told them the way and that was the only time someone opened a door (lucky).

But since we live in a city with lot's of people now, I told my daughter to keep walking and just say ask an adult. For the little possibility she might loose me somewhere she also knows places, names and telephone number. It's not like she already is allowed to walk around alone in the city, but better start early with such lessons.




I have to add back in the end of 90s / start of 2000s, kidnapping in Germany was rampant. Either that or the media focused more on it.

I don't have any words other than God bless this little boy and keep his soul safe in his arms.

Sadly in this world there are many tales like this, young boy's running to protect there sisters and mothers not only from vile evil men whom are unknown to them but often from there own fathers.

In every nation, every country you will find story's like this of brave little children trying to protect those they love from harm with a courage often lacking or perhaps forgotten in adults.
