When I was a younger lawyer I had to deal with child abuse cases - not defending the scum, I could never do that, but mostly about custody etc. None as harrowing as this, but I had many nights crying myself to sleep and then decided I couldn't do it anymore.

Had a colleague at my last firm who did deal with the criminal side of this sent an email round asking if anyone could recommend an expert witness in Paediatric Proctology.

Talk about living in a sewer. He drank himself to death.

So Daddy was just as sick. Wow. My mind can't follow what motivates these people. Some psychoanalyst can have that job but I'd be happy to pull the lever though.

They should enjoy prison compared to what Christ does to them.

Prison will be a dream vacation for they are condemned to hell.

OK. So I plucked courage to read some of the details. When he begged for some water cos he was so very thirsty that heartless bitch gave him a glass of heavily salted water.

The post mortem showed huge amounts of salt in his poor little body.

Words fail me.

These stories make me physically nauseous, I’ve never even raised my voice to my kids and yet they’re very well behaved and polite.

Poor kid, I hope someone gives them a taste of their own medicine in prison.

Yes and is now playing the caring, loving mum card along with all the other family who must have known what was going on. This would never happen to any child even in my extended family, it would be dealt with swiftly and firmly.

They obviously deserve repeated beatings while they are imprisoned. Execution would be far too easy on them.

I'm sure this would be considered as cruel and unusual punishment, but I do think they deserved the death penalty, but not the actual execution.

In my opinion, the punishment part of a death sentence does not happen at the moment of execution. The punishment is knowing the date ahead of time, and especially when counting down the last couple of weeks.

These 2 deserve a death penalty that is repeatedly postponed over and over and over and over time and time again, for decades. Wait until the last minute every dam time....

Then, "Woops. I forgot the paperwork. We can't do it today. Guess we'll have to set a new date.'

I'm sure the prison could come up with plenty of excuses to continue postponing it.



That's probably how the boy felt for a long time. There were probably many times when he thought, "Surely this will end soon." From his point of view, it was probably similar to being stranded alone in the middle of the Pacific, when you see a rescue boat coming straight towards you, but it didn't stop. They just went right on by and kept going....

In the US that would be CPS. They have better things to do, like harass normal parents who take care of their kids.

Often involves a boiling kettle of water with lots of sugar added. Apparently. Very nasty.

Hard to say without knowing more details. For example, Social Services here are supposed to have 1 Social Worker for every 20-30 kids in order to stay on top of every case. Where I am, it is more like 1 for every 150 - at least. With the best will in the world, some will inevitably fall through the cracks of a completely over loaded system. Which is a horribly sobering thought.

I've never been a supporter of capital punishment.....but cases like this really make me question that.
How any person could carry out such sustained and prolonged torture on a child of that age simply defies comprehension and understanding.

I'm really conflicted over the whole notion of capital punishment.
The whole thinking behind 'its wrong to kill someone so because you have we are going to kill you' seems highly hypocritical - despite the fact that I know without a shadow of doubt that if someone killed any of my nearest and dearest I would do everything within my power to inflict a similar fate in revenge.

But acts like this simply can not be punished by what in reality equates to relatively minor restrictions on the civil liberties of the pure #ing pondlife scumbags who commit such heinous crimes.

At best they should literally be locked up in a six by six cell, straw mattress, subsistence level basic food and literally nothing else for the rest of their existence.

I had a friend who was a Social Worker who specialised in child abuse cases.
She was very well intentioned and sincerely wanted to make a difference.

I won't go in to the details out of respect for her but she started struggling to cope and sadly is no longer with us.

Man's capacity to inflict such horror and evil on their fellow human beings simply never ceases to truly appal me.

Is there really any hope for us?
