So I guess I'm saying that as humans, we shouldn't need a government and complex supply chains and fiat money in order to survive. It's what we're used to so we assume it is necessary for survival. But is it really? Believe in the power of the human spirit, the resiliency and adaptability. Strengthen the sense of community right around you. That is where my head is at.

Before my mom passed I asked her every single thing I could about her youth. She lived that life. No money, bathed in a river, washed clothes by hand, and caught or made all the food they were going to eat. My dad wasn't far from it, just with a little more modern amenities.

The problem, especially with Americans (most of us) is that we are SPOILED rotten. We are literally living in luxury and we don't know it. I'm very into antiques and have a lot of manual crank type of stuff. All that stuff took a lok of energy to use. Even griding coffee!
The modern world also gave us a way to be soooo clean (man I love that part the most)

This is going to sound very bougee of me, but there was a time when I was unable to bathe for 3 days. I know that's not long for some people, but I'm just a person that loves showering/bathing/washing my hair. I was ready to go crazy on that third day, seriously nuts. For others it might be something else, like not being able to play video games nonstop, or netflix, or maybe buy what they are usually able to buy at the grocery store. I've wondered if the whole don't eat meat push is really because they know we won't be able to for too much longer...

IMO, the most likely thing will be a "mysterious blast" on our power grid, or perhaps a "foreign" hack. Both causes in parentheses because I think the government will be behind it.

So I ask you, what do you think is coming?

Same old same old from all the preceding administrations. Less rights, more spending, bungled foreign policy and lobbyists/special interests getting fat on our cash.

Pillow man has a surprise for us!!! Thanksgiving will be glorious.

www.seattletimes.com...

In 1933, one in every four Americans was unemployed. Banks were collapsing, wiping out people’s savings. “I remember being in church the Sunday after banks closed on Friday,” said Elizabeth Garlichs, 85, who grew up in the tobacco town of Winston-Salem, N.C., before coming to Seattle and then Oysterville in Pacific County. “The minister said anything put in the offering plate would be appreciated. And when it came down our row, all it had was a pack of Camel cigarettes.”

My Mother said when she was a little girl, her mother always cooked for the pot. If she made soup or stew, she would put in one potato for each of them, and one or two for the pot. The pot ingredients were items that were added to the meal for those that would come looking for something to eat.

My Mother said her mother had a rule, that they should never turn away someone that was hungry, and she would always find something she would give them to eat. Many rode the train, and when they arrived looking for food, the word had gotten out to come to my grandmother's house, because she would feed the vagrants, and migrant workers.

My grandmother was a medicine woman. She knew her way around edibles in the wild. She had her own view on what people owned, and what our responsibilities to each other were. I think it is in the genes, because my Mother and I feed and serve the community. I have 9 siblings. We are 5 girls and 5 boys. All five of the girls feed and serve the needy. All of the boys donate generously and serve when needed.

We were raised knowing the importance of having a strong community, and we were raised to recognize and respond to those in need. Many see it as a burden.I find joy in giving, even when I have little. I can't give much financially, but I give generously of my time.

what is coming can be forecast.
it is interesting to note that the largest earthquake ever was in 1556 in China and killed over 800,000 people however, earthquakes generally seem to only have a quarter million casualties as the upper limit . . . a a quarter million is not much.

natural disasters are not lead by a sense of impending doom.
and a sense of impending doom rarely results in calamity.
And when it comes to calamity, humans, man caused calamity routinely tops natural disaster in terms of human suffering.

If you study history, what is coming can be forecast and will be man caused. And the greatest of man caused disasters fall under the domain of totalitarian rulers who exercise control over ownership of resources and control of production and distribution.

and that is exactly what is coming. You will own nothing and be happy. The government will control ownership of resources and control over what gets produced, how much and who gets it. And it will be a man caused disaster with human suffering that will top all previous records. Specifically, war, famine, disease, and cold.

From Armageddon:
Oscar : Ok, Mr. Truman, let's say that we actually do land on this. What's it gonna be like up there?
Truman : 200 degrees in the sunlight, minus 200 in the shade, canyons of razor-sharp rock, unpredictable gravitational conditions, unexpected eruptions, things like that.
Oscar : Okay, so the scariest environment imaginable. Thanks. That's all you gotta say, scariest environment imaginable.

So, in answer to the question "What is coming?"
"That's all you gotta say, scariest environment imaginable."

That is the key to success.

The key to success is banning lobbying.

I'd go for tighter restrictions. Sometimes it's Important for businesses to be represented. Especially local ones. Like local stores lobbying on zoning issues.

Nah the lobbyist have our best interest in heart. Getting rid of lobbying or Reforming lobbying with technology to take money out of the equation will not help anything. large amounts of Money and conflict of interest is the best way to make things better for everyone.

We also need to expand term limits in congress. We should allow our congress members to continue voting on what is best for us after they die. Their lobbyist can be our contacts via seance.

I want to live in your Utopia.

My mom is 90, and I love asking her about her childhood. Her father died when she was 5 and her mother worked hard to keep herself and her 2 daughters fed and clothed. So much done by hand those days. She churned butter, tended a garden, and cooked in a relative's diner. Mom stood on a step-stool so she could reach the register to make change for the customers. To this day she has a head for numbers! They had dresses made out of printed flour sacks, and their mom made them miniature pound cakes for their school lunches-- better than LIttle Debbie Cakes I'm sure! All of this was during the Depression when things were hard for everyone around them. My mom is an amazing self-sufficient person to this day. A lot of my "we can do this" attitude comes directly from being raised by her. I'm sorry your mom is no longer with you, and I know that at 90, mine won't live forever. But the lessons & memories live on!

That happens at the local level with the Zoning Board or Town Council where campaign contributions are illegal for favoritism. Lobbying your elected official shouldn't be illegal, paying them money so you can write laws that they then submit and vote on as their own should.

I so agree. And I have a family member that is a lobbyist.

Businesses should be making deals with the people, not with the government. We need to remember we make a decision, and we vote, every time we purchase anything or spend our money on anything.

Purchasing power works in numerous ways. We have been deceived, or we have forgotten, that collectively, we hold all the power in our hands, or pocketbooks.

When our complacency is disrupted, when our comforts are shifted, and when the obese will be envied and seen as royalty, then maybe people will be able to see the forest and the trees.

Just a little too darn late.

Heartbroken.

Deep heartbreak. Like I've lived my life with the one I love the most, and the one is now forever gone.

Void and heartbroken.

I'm atheist ( actually more agnostic )

Just not what the rest of the world considers organized faith.

Scientist are pushing a treatment and say it will be safe.....

So much uncertainties.

Another story from my mom.
In her country before a bride would be approved for a groom, she would have to show her worth by jumping on a
squash (birdhouse gourd) and break it.
It basically proved she was strong/healthy/weighed enough to bear children.

Hard to say. For the Western Hemisphere civilized nations are in turmoil, economically there are some serious problems on the horizon. Most readers here are well versed and educated on the cause of such effect. It’s pretty obvious the golden age of freedom, and capitalism is concluding. What some of you are feeling is called transition.

The old goats have similar memories to compare this transition to, but it’s going to be a new experience for sure. As a matter of a fact I bet you 100 bucks this new transition has already effected you the reader.

In any case we’re not done.. smoke em if you got em.

We get our half a cow in the end of November to early December, it is going to be buchered around the sixteenth of November then hung for between ten to fourteen days to age a bit. That will fill the freezers again. We will have our usual well stocked winter supplies at that time, we keep enough of everything in stock to last for the winter without even needing anything more than milk and eggs to buy. Been doing that for many years now, it saves us a real lot on our food bill if we buy during good sales. We have two turkeys in the freezer, thirty three cents a pound for the Meijers birds. We are back up to about ten whole chickens in stock plus breasts, leg quarters, and some thighs.

Still need to get a couple of bushels of potatoes in stock but our usual deer are not coming around anymore, the doe could have got hit by a car, she disappeared one day and her fawn came a few days but she did not let it eat yet, the does want the young to learn to eat wild things until they get to a certain age, they need to learn to survive. The mother seemed to be pregnant, a second pregnancy could have been problematic for her in September, she might have had complications. Although rare, deer can have two litters a year, we have seen it once before, last time we had a fall baby, the baby did survive but I think this may have been a bad birth. I cannot rule out getting hit by a car though, a lot of fast drivers here hit deer every year. It was not just the ones we were feeding though, it seems that a lot of deer in the local area disappeared, maybe someone was stocking up their freezer.

Economic collapse due to the Brandon Administration printing to much money . A few wins in 2021 in my opinion is not going to be enough . We have to many spineless republicans to stand up to Brandon's idiocracy . When you have Fred Upton from Michigan coming on the radio stating the 1.2 Trillian is all infrastructure I feel it is to late .
