No...not twelve days of Christmas.

Today marks the 12th day since I've had a cigarette.

Yes, though I never said it here, I am/was a smoker.

I am not going to be a hypocrite and be one of those "former smokers" who cast aspersions on all smokers. Going forward, I believe in living and letting live.

I won't say it's easy, because it's not. But, I'm coming up on two weeks, which is good.

Contemplating all those deep conspiracies without lighting up a good ol' smoke is definitely different.

That's really all I had to say. I don't plan on going back. I won't go back.

A nice vote of confidence is always appreciated.

Keep on going! Well done this far FCD. Proud of you.

Hang in there and be easy with yourself.

Rough time to give it up.

I tried last year. Got a couple months under my belt.

Then my best friend died. I’ll enjoy this one for you.

Aren't you the toughest guy who has ever walked the Earth.
Nicotine is a bitch. Your body gets super addicted and it's the same withdrawl as psychoactive medicine, like Tavor. Plus it's such an easily obtained reward, the moment you take a break. Without a cigarette that's just a bitch.
It takes a lot of strength to get over those attractions and see it for what it is: an addiction.
Once you have it the struggle never ends.
12 days is really impressive. Since probably every one of them was a fight.
With the health issues you mentioned.
Really kudos.

I officially declare you as still one of the mentally strongest tough guys we have on ATS.
Cut a little something out of felt. Wear it with pride

Apparently in 2 more days the urges are supposed to become easier to deal with.

But I wouldn't know, I'm rushing to the grave still on 1 pack a day.

You gotta do what you gotta do for your health.

My grandfather smoked every day from WWII until the day his doctor sat him down after a mild cardiac episode and told him it was his life or quitting. He quit that day. Man had a will of iron.

I only wish I was half as tough as he was, and I have people tell me I'm tough as nails.

You've put up with and endured quite a bit of punishment and made it. You can do this too.

Dude...... That's outstanding !

I'm a former 2.2 pack-a-day going on near 102 years now. So I can relate to many (if not all) the associated "fun" of quitting. I wish you continued success, and when necessary, those long licorice sticks work pretty good in the Transference Department (CAVEAT: unless your a diabetic, then please ignore that suggestion). Mine was sugar-free hard candys because they could last a good long while.

ANYWHO DUDE... Really.. Congrats, and please hang in there... (they say 28 days makes and breaks habits).

Johnny

20 days now. Only (8) more to go I guess! I certainly hope 28 days is the magic ticket.

There are certain things which still get to me, craving wise. First thing in the morning, after a meal and driving in the car/truck. That, and after a very focused task (which I lump into the meal category).

One thing I do notice though is how much extra time I seem to have. I also notice that I really like not feeling like I have something hanging over my head.

Thank Gawd for Wurthers hard candies, Jolly Ranchers, blow-pops and Lifesavers!!
