Arrivederci, Alitalia: Toubled Italian airline shuts down after 75 years

I am surprised they have lasted as long as they have with world travel being such that it is. After 75 years in business and 10 billion Euros of tax payer funds they have shut the doors. There are several others around the world that have one foot in the grave so without government support would have already shut down too.

I do not think so in their case as they have been dead since 2017 without government support.

I did Milan to Rome and also Venice to Florence in about the half the time it takes to fly which includes travel to and waiting at the airport. The problem is most of the airports are well outside their cities and the high speed puts you in the city centers.
