I can't have children due to my gender, however I've been told by those that can and have that tooth pain is worse. Not sure how close to reality that is. I do know that the only thing aside from getting the tooth taken care of that seems to work is vodka, which really isn't a solution to the problem but will certainly relieve the pain. I imagine the same is true for other alcoholic beverages but that's my personal preference. Tooth pain is absolutely horrible and I wouldn't wish it on really anyone.

I had a terrible pregnancy and emergency C-section and there were days I would have rather gone through that again because I had really good drugs.

Not knowing is what frustrated me the most. It was really hard because I would be sick and have no clue how to treat it. My boss is amazing as he has been so understanding.

1: GO TO THE DOCTOR AND HAVE YEAR HEART CHECKED

2: Aftrr that, check to see if you have a slight hiatal hernia of your esophagus

3: next, do you still have you Gallbladder?

Above and especially number 1, I've had all three and jaw, throat, TOOTHACHE...... please seek a doctor to check your heart first.

1. Heart is fine.

2. Never heard of that term and without health insurance I can't afford such a test.

3. Nope no gallbladder.

Oh this all went away as soon as the tooth came out. I never had pain before this tooth and not since it came out. I can't believe how much better I feel. It is unreal compared to even a week ago on how I felt.

OMG they left equipment in your mouth? That is terrible. 5 years

Yea I had 2 kinds of orajel, it wasn't the tooth really so it didn't help. It was the nerve and the nerve under may jaw causing the issues. The only time I had relief was when I was on a steroid for a week. I felt like superwoman on that and no pain but then it would slowly creep back.

Oh yea i know that pain well. I had a route canal back in 2001, cracked my molar opening a beer bottle with my teeth (yes i know).

Constant infections and pain in my jaw, the crown eventually came loose and had it removed i think 2012, the one and only tooth i've lost but in the end it had to go. The removal was a right old fun day at the dentist as well, i have hooked roots so took about an hour of yanking, cracking and pain. What a relief tho once it was gone.

Oh wow I have never heard of hooked roots, an hour of yanking? good god that is nuts!!

Yea this root canal and the other they insisted i needed I wish I never got. I have had issues with my teeth ever since and I NEVER had issues before. It is just weird to me that it happens now.

That stuff never works for me, not sure if it's the type of tooth infections I get or not. Typically mine are at the root and a topical does absolutely nothing for me.

I recall in my early 20's I had an abscess at one point, I had a dentists appointment scheduled for Monday morning and it was Friday evening. I went to the ER and they dosed me full of antibiotics, doc comes in with the biggest needle I've ever seen and says this may hurt. I didn't feel a thing as the pain from the abscess overwhelmed everything else. My entire mouth up to the bottom of my eyeballs was numb all weekend and I had to make sure I didn't bite my tongue but it was such sweet relief.

Ugh, i have one molar that has been emptied and filled up, i think in general, root canal is pretty useless, it takes lots of work, and the result is not that good, after four years, i am ready to get that piece of junk pulled. Also have two implants, really like them, they feel way better than my real teeth.

But yeah, tooth infections are no joke, it can actually start to eat away bone near the gums, absolutely horrible.

By the way, if anyone has pain in their teeth right now, that bothers your eating or drinking cold drinks, please try different types of tooth paste, recently i started to get this paste that is for gum health or something like that, it instantly made those little pain pulses go away, and it has this ingredient that builds up, so it helps with the pain even more with time.

-Had to look it up, its oral b sensitivity & gum calm.

Damn. I am sorry it cost you so much and so much pain. Just imagine if we had some sort of universal health care and that did not cost you near anything out of pocket. Would that be Socialism? IDK. The Gov't launches a million dollar missle from a 50 million dollar drone at a wedding party in some country without asking me, That seems OK.

On an important side note. I had a hell of a tooth ache, dentist said root canal. OH F@#$. I went to the guy to have it done, he said it was just my dentist bad filling causing me pain.

watch " Root Cause : the movie on netflix ".. soo good. you will never get a root canal again. You are removing the nerve but leaving a poison , puss filled tooth in your body.
How can that be good?

SO has anyone else had any crazy stories of a damn tooth causing issues like this? The dentist I went to that removed it said it happens more than people think.

For the last couple of years, I kept getting periodic, recurring, agonizing pain in my back/upper teeth - dentist could never really find a cause - the tooth that I thought was the source had a root canal, so what was the pain from? It would flare up and I could barely eat, but after a week or so, it would calm down and life went on.

Also, for much of last year, I continued to spike fevers and had terrible headaches, and was tested for everything including various parasites, auto-immune diseases, but no result, nothing. Just bloodwork that said I have a some kind of infection, but *where?*

Finally, I developed an infection in my sinuses, with symptoms severe enough a doctor sent me to the ER 'cause she thought I might be in sepsis - (I wasn't) - finally, I developed a large abscess on my gum that told me it was a tooth infection.

That's when they sent me for a 3D CT scan of my jaw - and there, in between the roots of one of my root-canaled teeth, was an infection that created a large abscess in my bone and was (evidently) leaking infection debris into my body.

A regular X-ray couldn't see it in 2D, but the 3D CT could.

Turned out, the tooth had been root canaled 20 years earlier, and they missed a canal, and apparently, when this happens, bacteria can get in there and cause infection. Usually, they fail within 5 years - but mine lasted 20, just festering in there for all that time. There are also facial nerves that run thru there, so that was the cause of the headaches, too.

Of course it was removed, had a bone graft, then another bone graft to replace the destroyed bone. Since it was removed, the headaches and fevers finally stopped - phew!

So, I, uh, feel your pain

But for anyone still reading, let me reiterate - tooth infections are really dangerous and have a strong correlation with heart disease. So, take that stuff seriously.

Hiatal hernia is basically the sphincter at the top of your stomach doesn't quite close properly, so the result is acid reflux into your esophagus. ("Heartburn" commonly.)

This can cause all kinds of fun stuff, including esophageal cancer, ulcers in the esophagus, lung damage, and yes, can damage your teeth.

Something you'd take up with a gastroenterologist - if you have symptoms of persistent heartburn/reflux,

Wouldn't it be amazing if we had something like that? Dental work is so expensive and even when I had dental insurance last year I maxed out on ONE procedure which was the first root canal I had where I still had to pay $600! That tooth is still sensitive yet they tell me it's fin. No it isn't. I wish I had it pulled as well and saved my money. I would rather have implants or dentures there. Tooth pain is terrible and tooth repair is HELLA expensive!

Yea I was scared into that root canal and it was during the start of the covid fiasco so I was worried if I didn't get it taken care of that at some point I wouldn't be able to even get to the dentist. I so didn't want it. It took 5 hours for the root canal and crown to be put on. He also had to do some gum work and that freaked me out after to have a hole there. Dental work doesn't scare me but holes in my mouth freak me out big time lol

OMG I saw that and had to stop because I watched it AFTER my root canal. I wish I pulled the tooth and still wish I did.

OMG that is terrible! Tooth pain is the worse esp with what it is all connected to and what it can cause. I knew I wasn't crazy when I went to my dentist numerous times about the tooth. Not having insurance I pay attention to my body more so when things happen I can give a good recount of what has been going on and ALL of my issues with this tooth started after I had a root canal on the tooth next to it.

It sucks because so many people have this happen to them and most have no insurance to pay for it because dental insurance is horrible. It really doesn't cover much of anything! Really good dental is hard to come by.

I am glad you were able to finally find relief. I only had constant pain and annoyance for a little over a year so I can't imagine what you went through and for how long. I think a lot of dental issues are easily dismissed by doctors.

Oh I have a GI doctor. I have GERD and all kids of issues gastro issues. Fun times.

The issues with my teeth and gums started when I was pregnant and never stopped. I never had any issues with my teeth before. I had very healthy teeth and gums. My dentist said it is common for pregnant women.

I had this sudden severe pain in the gums about 3 years ago. It came on suddenly from nowhere and it was excruciating.

I found out by accident that rinsing out with cold water gave me instant but temporary relief. So I sat in a chair all day, every day, nursing a cup of cold water, refilling it now and then. I could do nothing. I could think of nothing but the pain.

I have had some problems with a few teeth, and one thing that I've found works wonders, at least in all 3 of my cases, was swishing with very warm SALT water. Swish it around focusing on t he tooth/teeth where the pain is, and within minutes the pain subsides. Keep doing this until it is gone (usually took me no more than 10 or 15 minutes max).
