I realize the World is burning but I have a problem.
Every jar of powdered spice sucks up moister and boom $5 down the drain .

I've tried rice and it is lackluster I've had a jar in a container of rice for a week now .

I'm going to try the dehydrater next .

I was told to put some foil under the lid that that might help .

Looking into making a Hermetically sealed spice cabinet Spices aren't cheap !

To us in the UK I think after sporty, baby, scary, posh and ginger this was clumpy spice



as to your actual issue my gran always said make sure the spoon is totally dry before scooping any out

after a google search it would appear she was right, top marks gran!!

1. Store in a mason jar with a good lid.
2. Purchase a bag of silica gel. Buy some cheap nylon knee-high stockings and put a few spoonfuls in a section of the stocking and tie it off. Leave that in the jar with the spice.

We have some silica gel that turns color once it's saturated but you put it in an oven at low temperature to dry out and can use it again many times.

Unopened spices will typically last about 2 years so if your intention is to keep them longer than that they'll lose their potency.

Put a few grains of rice in each jar.

Works to keep salt from clumping so might work with spices.

Seems like this Microplane Spice Grater would do the trick of re-powdering clumped spice. But the best spice is the fresh spice.

Mortar and pestle might work, or store in the freezer for long term use.

Store in cool dry dark place around 70 degrees in air tight containers, once opened use as fast as you can. Never store near a heat source, like stove dish washer microwave or sunlight from a window. Buy the smaller containers of them unless you use them all the time or cook large meals that will take more.

You could try silica gel packs, I personally wouldn't but that's just me.
