The dream of a unification fight between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury is over as Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk has just beaten Joshua on points making Usyk the new world champion.

Oleksandr Usyk is the new WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO world champion.

He wins it on points.

Anthony Joshua is beaten.

The scores are 117-112, 116-112, 115-113. Unanimous decision for Usyk.

Can't say I'm surprised as Usyk is a quality fighter who's record is now 19 wins from 19 fights , Joshua has shown he can be inconsistent and tonight he was properly beaten by the better man .... of course there is a rematch clause but I think the result next time will be the same.

For the benefit of those who can't watch the fight due to work conditions, please change the title, lol.

Always thought Joshua was over-rated and has a suspect chin, too stiff and predictable.

Was a decent fight to be fair, i think Usyk could have taken him out at any point after round 8 if he wanted to turn up the heat.

Absolutely phenomenal technical boxer, deserves all the credit. His positioning and footwork is next level.

However, he has almost no chance against Fury, expect a chess match with the big man to come out on top on points or to weigh him down on the inside and a late stoppage.

Great fight and fantastic performance by the new champ. AJ had his moments but Usyk was unlike any heavyweight I've since since maybe Ali with the movement and ring smarts.

Anthony Joshua post fight interview , clearly stunned by his defeat he says he want's an early rematch and says he'll fight Fury even without the belts , doubt Fury would offer him that opportunity.

A few days before the fight I watched a replay of Tony Bellew Vs Oleksandr Usyk , what I saw from Usyk in that fight convinced me he would likely beat AJ , I don't see AJ beating him in the rematch.

I didnt see the fight but i read on the BBC sport website (Bunce) that Joshua didnt try. He took a couple of hard ones early on and went into damage limitation mode. Yizzar fighters, you take a hard punch you keep going and fight. Reminds me a bit like Frank Bruno. All image and no fight when it came to a tough contest.
Fury would have him in 3

Hogwash. I did watch the fight. AJ tried. AJ made adjustments. AJ had his moments but he was just completely outclassed.

I had 25 amateur fights and lost 7 of them before quitting the sport due to headaches and the fact I wasn’t very good.

Whenever someone is critical of a boxers heart I always wonder how many times they’ve personally been punched in the head.

You can have all the willpower in the world but if someone rings your bell it’s hard to stay focused. You’re right Joshua should have pressed the action more and smothered Usyk early but 10 seconds in he took a clean left hand straight down the pipe to the jaw. It’s easy to suggest walking through the punches, more difficult to put it into practice.

Im Irish with 5 brothers, ive taken plenty of punches. Not in the ring but a bare knuckle is as hard as they come.
AJ is a fighter and i was going by what was written on the BBC website.

It wasn’t aimed at you, more at Bunce.

I don’t read the BBC unless it’s to highlight their agenda sorry.

Scrapping with your brothers and fighting 12 rounds with a 15 stone technically proficient former Olympic champion professional boxer isn’t the same thing. Joshua ate that first left straight and it shook him to his boots, I think that’s why he became gun shy. He learned within 10 seconds that Usyk had the power to hurt him.
