Aviation alert orange, ash to 5000ft, lava fountains.

www.volcanodiscovery.com... ft-1.html

Compared to other active volcanoes currently erupting around the world, this is a fairly minor one but still has potential for more intense eruptions.

It looks like the vents are turning ito a fissure along the line of instability of the island that we are all worried about.

This is is as real as anything gets.

If I lived on the United States East Coast I would have a plan to move and supplies ready. Better to be safe than very sorry:/

I was just about to post the same thing.
The lava is reaching the village below now and some of the trees in the town are on fire

rainbows

PS.....It seriously looks like a fisure eruption now! It's moving fast!

Some spectacular video coming out as the sun sets over there. My amateur observation is the eruption is more intense now than earlier today.

Yes. It is hurricane season, after all.

I have been watching the live feed off an on for the last 5 hours...

The amount that it has grown is crazy...the question is...how much bigger is it going to get?

The four vents that are shooting narrow streams straight up into the air are incredible, suggesting that there is still a lot of magma filling the area.

Beautiful to watch, but deadly to those nearby.

The fissure! That is the thing. It's not about how powerful the eruption is, by that I mean no need to be explosive, Two British scientists showed in a video it's the fissure that's going to be the problem and it's not about the power of the eruption but the flow of magma along the fissure that will "lubricate" it and therefore losing the grip on the island of that chunk of island.

Simon Day was (is?) based in the UK. His co-author, Steven Ward, is/was based in California.

It turns out that their analysis of the geology of the island was deeply flawed as was their tsunami model.

They said that the last eruption they had, in the 1970s (if I'm not mistaken) lasted for 11 days.

I'm in Key West, Fl. Actually going to the mainland tonight(not because of this) and may stay the night up there far from the coast.

Obviously monitoring this closely. If this were to go worst case(and I am on the island), I have about 10 hours, plenty of time to get my boat into deep water with some supplies.

They said just now that the volcano has 8 "mouths" and two fissures that run north-north, like all other fissures on that island, 200 metres apart.

8 houses have been destroyed.

Could you imagine riding in your boat up and over one of the tsunami swells before it breaks!?!

That would be so intense and awesome to witness...

Yeah I remember that.....

So intense, that's kind of what gave me the idea....just awe inspiring terrifying power...

I wonder if the potential tsunami would actually be higher..

Im glad you have a solid plan my friend...🤙
